Motorola planning Qualcomm powered low cost 3G handset for EU and APAC in Q3

In the third quarter of this year Qisda (formerly known as BenQ) is expected to begin shipments of a monoblock form factor device for Motorola (NYSE: MOT) that will be powered by a Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) solution. The device will be priced around $100 for people in the channel, which means we’ll probably be seeing it retail for a bit over $150 after everyone down the line gets their cut.

You can expect this new handset to arrive in the EU and APAC regions first, with NAM availability at a later date. It is supposed to have “rich multimedia functions,” but that price tag may suggest otherwise.
