Samsung goes live with first HSUPA handset – Samsung SCH-M470 does Windows Mobile and high-speed upload

This handset manufacturing giant really knows how to make a good looking slider phone, and they’ve done it again with the Samsung M470. But, this beauty isn’t just skin deep. The Samsung M470 has the brawn to play with the big-dogs.
Samsung has just released the latest Windows Mobile handset to rock the high-speed upload-speeds defined by the HSPA data standard. Not only does the new Samsung SCH-M470 sport a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, push email, and a sliding numeric keypad, but the new Samsung slider speeds along at HSUPA data rates. With HSUPA under the hood, the Samsung M470 can upload data 5 times faster than the WCDMA standard can handle by its lonesome.
The Samsung SCH-M470 will run about 600,000 to 700,000 won (about $600 to $700).
But, like all good things to come out of Samsung, this high-speed data handset isn’t likely to see the light of day outside of South Korea’s borders. That’s really a shame, but the new Samsung handset will hopefully spark a new wave of Windows Mobile smartphones getting jiggy true HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA) data connections.
