T-Mobile UK Sidekick gets new content store – users get on-device application catalogue

Sidekick-maker Danger is apparently making the move into content. Like so many other handset manufacturers toeing the waters of content distribution, Danger has its eyes set on pushing games, ringtones, themes, backgrounds and “personal productivity and Web 2.0 applications” to Sidekick users in the UK. T-Mobile (NYSE: DT)’s has updated its Sidekick lineup with the on-device catalogue from Danger that should help sales of mobile phone applications. The application catalogue offers a “short description of the applications and the chance to ‘preview’ them before downloading,” helping the user make the right choice.

All content available through the catalogue is optimized for the Sidekick and is designed to work with other applications on the Sidekick.
We’ll no doubt be seeing more content offerings from mobile phone manufacturers in the future. The question is, will carriers get on board?
