S60 not backing away from WebKit
By Stefan Constantinescu on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 at 6:16 AM PST In Nokia
The bandwagon of people saying that Nokia (NYSE: NOK) was going to stop using WebKit for future implementations of the S60 browser:
And today from the official S60 Browser Blog:
“… one of our developers did some housekeeping on the Tiger branch of the webkit project, and some people thought it looked like we were backing away from the whole open-source project. No, no, no — it’s just that we’re focusing on the newer Leopard branch …”
“It’s not that we don’t appreciate the attention, of course, but any talk about S60 Browser backing away from Webkit isn’t true.”
Hate to say it, well not really, but I told you so!

So, what’s your point? No point at all as I see.
I don’t like to read ANOTHER official Nokia person point of view on this site. Sorry to tell, but in the last weeks, the quality of your posts decreased:-(
it was just a jab at my friends, i know the guys who write 4 out of those 5 blogs, little humour you know?
Stefan you Nokia Whoar! LOL! How dare you try to be funny!
@ Stefan
Yes I figured that. As you are part of Nokia now, please try and use your excellent writing skills to non-Nokia subjects. As I told you, I really don’t know why did you post in the last few weeks. Sit down and think, I know you’ll find out the solution. Thanks for listening.
@horia
Of course everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and you can have yours. To say that Stefan should stop blogging about Nokia because he now works there is a bit ridiculous though.
One of the things we all love most about Nokia is that despite its size and stature, it is still an extremely honest and open company. No competitor is anywhere near as user-centric, period. Nokia gives users a tremendous amount of insights into the inner working of the company. S60.com? The upcoming Nokia Conversations site? What’s more, they often encourage outside blogging.
Stefan should stop blogging about Nokia? What about Phoneboy and his blog? What about Charlie Schick and Lifeblog? Etc, etc. Should they stop as well? Good lord, I hope they don’t all take your advice…
I hope so too Zach. horia you should sit and think of what you just said, I haven’t got any complaint again Stefan’s posts, just because you do, doesn’t mean we all do.
@zach @ meraj
I’m sorry but it seems that I wasn’t clear (English is not my native language). I prefer the “old” sarcastic and crazy Stefan , not the one who’s posting sweetened PR texts. Just my two cents, excuses etc etc etc.
@horia I think Stefan is being understandably cautious because he IS part of the mothership now and I’m sure wants to keep it that way. There are some restrictions on what he can write about, so you might not see as much of the “sarcastic” and “crazy” Stefan as you used to. He’s still there, though.
