Nothing, and I mean nothing, is stopping Amazon or Google or any other company to provide a storage in the cloud service built around Mesh. All Mesh is really, is a framework that handles bidirectional ATOM feeds.

There is not doubt in my mind someone is going to clone this, they'll be an open source clone, etc, but they're the first to bring this concept to life.

Sounds nice, but this doesn't solve the issue. I mean, you're saying why bother uploading your pictures to Flickr, then changing your mind and re-uploading them to Photobucket, etc. etc. How's that different from uploading them to MS Mesh, and then allowing those service access? The only thing you've done with Mesh is creating one central location regardless of the media (one place for photos, one for video, another for Word docs, etc), but you're still uploading, and what if MS decides to raise the price for Mesh, or what if you hit your limit there, etc?

Sounds like this is the beginning of what Share on Ovi is doing, really. The only thing missing there is the ability to give permission for other services to access your files.

Hi Stefan. (We met briefly via Lassi while I was TV shopping. Very happy with the Bravia). I haven't got a chance to check out mesh yet, but I liked a lot of your thoughts in this article......especially....
