3devicesannounced Nokia 6600 Fold, 6600 Slide and 3600 Slide released

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) just came out with 3 Series 40 handsets: The 6600 Fold, 6600 Slide and 3600 Slide. High resolution pictures and detailed specs after the jump.

[Nokia Press Release]

Update: These devices have a dedicated site, with interviews and videos and more. Check it out here. It doesn’t work for me, but appears to be functioning for everyone else. Why do the PR gods smite me?!

Update: If the link above doesn’t work then try this: http://147.243.3.83/NOKIA_COM_1/Press/beautifultouse/index.swf Notice how it takes you straight to an IP.

Starting with the “low end,” the 3600 Slide is a quadband GSM/EDGE device that will cost 175 EUR when it comes out in the third quarter of this year. It has a 3.2 megapixel camera, with autofocus, and the ability to record VGA resolution video, but the resolution is not given. There is a 2 inch screen, 240 x 320 resolution with 16 million colors. This device has TV out, but is capped to 320 x 240 resolution at 15 frames per second. Pretty slim at 14.5 mm, weighs 97.3 grams, 97.8 mm tall and 47.2 mm wide. Bluetooth 2.0 is a given, Opera Mini is preinstalled, FM radio, 860 mAh battery and microSDHC compatible up to 4 GB, but I bet someone will try shoving an 8 GB card in there. More specs here and more press photos here.

The next slider to come up is the 6600 Slide, quadband GSM/EDGE and dual band WCDMA in the 850 and 2100 MHz frequencies. Same 3.2 megapixel camera as the 3600 Slide with autofocus, VGA (640 x 480) video recording at 15 fps, QVGA (320 x 240) at 30 fps. For 250 EUR you also get a 2.2 inch 240 x 320 display, 16 million colors, FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.0 and microUSB that handles the charging, data transfer and wired headset. A 1000 mAh battery should have you chugging all day and it’s quite light at 110 grams, thin at 14 mm, 90 mm long and 45 mm wide. More specs here, more press photos here.

I’m saving my favorite for last, the 6600 Fold. At 275 EUR this is the most expensive of the three handsets announced, but also the most elegant. It hits shelved in Q3 and will have a 2.13 inch OLED screen, 240 x 320 resolution showing 16 million colors, Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio, 2 megapixel camera, VGA video recording at 15 fps, QVGA at 30 fps, and I may be wrong about this, but I think it has the same browser as S60 devices since the spec sheet says it has Nokia’s “Mini Map” browser. Quadband GSM/EDGE for traveling all over the world and UMTS in the 850 and 2100 MHz band. Oh and this device runs Series 40 like all the other devices. Anyway, more specs here, more pics here, enjoy the ones below:

@ayush3090: that’s objective, some like the looks, some don’t, some are shocked it doesn’t run S60. it’s just a model number really.

SPR7.2: better to check out the S40 Edition once it appears on Forum Nokia site.

@Stefan Constantinescu: but still dude, its not only about the looks (6600 fold looks olrite n pretty sturdy), but u noe they could have used some other number (i hav somthing nostalgic bout my old 6600……), but again completely my own opinion

  13. Mark says:

Nice looking phones, not sure why Nokia didn’t put the 3.2 megapixel camera in both of them though.

  14. Guido Jansen says:

SonyEricsson broke down during my holidays on Santorini; had to buy replacement .. Nokia 6600 fold.
Great piece of equipment; only disadvantage is the lack of ‘Dutch’ as a language option.. English is OK for me, but is there a download for this detail, allowing me to get Dutch menus?
Nokia is unreachable for direct answers.
Or do I look on the wrong sites?
