In Devices, Sony Ericsson
Guess it was expected to see Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) releasing the official G702 BeiBei demo video, after they did the same thing for the P5 Paris. Now that I’m thinking, if I needed to guess I would say the BeiBei demo video will be released even earlier — after all, it was the BeiBei and not Paris that was leaked by the FCC.
Anyway, we’ve already covered device in the past. Let me just repeat - it will run UIQ on top of Symbian OS and will sport a touchscreen, WiFi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. Enjoy the video!

In Gaming

I haven’t tried Panzer Tactics myself, but according to PocketGamer’s Rob Hearn, it seemed a little bit too complex for a mobile game. Yes it’s a strategy war game and some people may like the idea, but honestly how much time there is left in every day to play it. You want something smaller and not that complex.
Obviously, some other people dig the idea, prompting HandyGames to release the sequel. We’ve no information what it will add to the table, and the screenshots we got don’t promise an enhanced graphics. However, that wasn’t the problem with the original Panzer Tactics as far as I’ve understood. It’s the overall “playability” that should be improved and the game needs to get a slicker, simpler form to appeal to the masses.
As a strategy game fan myself, I do want to give it a try, though if it’s too complex, it’s gonna be uninstalled from my phone in a blitzkrieg.

In Applications, Palm OS, iPhone

While we’re still waiting for the next-gen version of the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) OS (Nova), you may want to use some of the older Palm OS apps on other, non-Palm OS powered devices. Thanks to StyleTap’s Palm OS emulators you can do that on various platforms. Back in February, we saw they’re thinking about porting their work to iPhone/iPod Touch, but at that point they said the application is still in the “experimental prototype” phase without being clear whether they’ll actually release it to the general public, at all.
Lucky for us, their demo video has been viewed over 800,000 times prompting StyleTap’s CEO Gregory Sokoloff to comment, “…And the response to our video has convinced us that many, many consumers, and companies, will eagerly jump at the change to buy iPhone devices if they can continue to run their must-have applications.”
See they’re suddenly serious about this “thing.” Now we only have to wait for early July, when further information about the product, including how it will be marketed and sold, will be made available.

In Devices, HTC, Windows Mobile
HTC Diamond fan boys, this is the news you’ve been waiting for. Not only have HTC Diamond shipments started (and some stores are already selling the device), but the Taiwan-based smartphone maker has already shipped the first batch of over 10,000 units, according to market sources.
In Germany, HTC will co-operate with T-Mobile (NYSE: DT), where the two companies will market both the Diamond and the QWERTY-keyboard equipped Raphael, which the Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT) owned mobile operator will start selling as MDA Compact IV and MDA Vario IV, respectively.
Unfortunately, we’ve no idea when will see the latest HTC devices hitting other European markets and the U.S. One could argue the handset maker may want to use T-Mobile to push its smartphones outside Germany, in other markets where the carrier operates. Which leads us to the U.S., where unfortunately, we’re still waiting for T-Mobile’s 3G network roll-out. I just hope they don’t bring the “EDGE flavor of the Diamond” there — it’s about time we see T-Mobile’s 3G offering hitting the States.

In Linux, Rumors

iPhone-like Android store isn’t confirmed at this stage, but the following words by project lead Andy Rubin promise AppStore like experience to the future Google (NSDQ: GOOG)’s mobile OS powered handset users:
“It would be a great benefit to the Android community to provide a place where people can go to safely and securely download content and where a billing system would allow developers to get paid for their effort…We wouldn’t have done our job if we didn’t provide something that helps developers get distribution.”
There is a twist, though. As an open platform, Android, will allow handset makers and carriers to tweak the device the way they want to. That being, users may or may not get the AppStore pre-installed on their devices, depending on the carrier’s/handset maker’s decision. We’re certainly all for AppStore, but it’s not like someone’s going to ask us about it.

In Apple, Devices, Rumors, iPhone
Most modern smartphones sport a GPS. iPhone is an exception, but that’s about to change. Or at least we hope that will be the case…
According to GigaOm’s sources, the new iPhone sports a GPS and “the contract has been nailed down by Broadcom (NSDQ: BRCM), a relatively new entrant into the GPS market,” which had acquired Global Locate in July of last year.
Of course this is everything but an official information, hence we’re posting it under our rumors section. Again, I want to believe there’s some merit to these words and that those containers have what it takes. WWDC couldn’t come fast enough…

In Announcements, Developer
While the iPhone has yet to see Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) let Adobe bring Flash on-board, Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) and Adobe have jointly announced that Qualcomm’s BREW Mobile Platform will now be playing nice with Flash.
The BREW Mobile Platform will be offering mass market devices the ability to work with Flash-based content. From stand-alone applications to integrated web applications, the new Flash-enabled BREW Mobile Platform should open up a whole new world for BREW handsets.

In Announcements, Devices, Nokia
The mirror-finished Nokia 7310 will apparently be branded as the “Supernova.” The high-end sounding branding might lead you to believe that the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 7310 is packed with more features than it really is, but keep in mind that a this good-looking mid-ranger is still just a tri-band (900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM handset with EDGE serving up data at 2.5G speeds.
The Nokia 7310 Supernova sports a 2 megapixel camera, a mirrored display and keypad, FM radio, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, and 20MB of internal storage - all powered by S40. So, if you’re in China or Taiwan, you can get your hands on this 11.95mm thick monoblock (candybar) Nokia 7130 Supernova, in your choice of Pink or Blue, post haste. Price point should hit around $230.

In Announcements, Apple, Applications, iPhone, iPhone OS
Anyone out there remember how awesome the TurboGrafx-16 gaming console was? Well, it always lagged a bit behind the more capable gaming consoles, but we’re still fond of “Bonk.” We’ve come a long way since then, but true gamers will remember the TurboGrafx 16 and it’s under-dog greatness.
So, with the other gaming consoles already emulated on the iPhone, it’s good to see that iPhone developer ZodTTD has released a TurboGrafx-16 emulator for the iPhone. The emulator, dubbed Temper4iphone, is only available for beta-testers and donaters for now. But, ZodTDD plans on releasing the app to the general public in the near-term.
Peep the video to see what’s in store for TurboGrafx-16 fans.

In Announcements, Applications, BlackBerry, RIM (Research in Motion)
But, there’s a catch. The minor BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) OS 4.5.0.37 update isn’t officially available to the BlackBerry using public. But, that doesn’t mean there aren’t copies of the updated OS circulating the interwebs.
BerryReview had to take down the links to the new OS for BlackBerry 8100,8300, 8700, and 8800 devices, but push-email fiends are encouraged to do a little bit of that “Google (NSDQ: GOOG)” thing on the web. Let us know what you find.
