Samsung Slash coming soon to Virgin Mobile USA

Virgin Mobile USA will be adding a new Samsung phone called Slash to its portfolio in the near future. While we’re not sure about the release date nor exact specs, Virgin Mobile’s “coming soon page” indicates potential users can expect such things as a built-in camera (we don’t have the megapixel count), Bluetooth, mobile web browser, Spanish menus and a battery that powers the device for 3.5 hours in talk and 170 hours in standby time. As for the size, the Slash measures 3.8×1.8×0.7 inches and weighs 3oz… More, or that’s less, information is available on Virgin Mobile USA’s web page.

Cute little phone. I have an Samsung Omnia also and this is a nice compliment, inexpensive slider to the Omnia. Putting them side by side you could never guess the price of this phone.

As far as operational. The literature states it uses Opera mini as the browser. There is a big difference in the browser from this to the Omnia which also uses Opera mini. Other than that, the bluetooth could be a lot better, but if you buy the headset that works with the phone I guess it could function as designed. My current bluetooth earbud is a bear to sync with this device. Haven’t given up, just looking for a work-around. All in all, you can’t go wrong with this phone. Email, browser, bluetooth, web and cheap. Along with the jailbroken (prepaid) or option of a jailer Contract) plan…you get the same capabilities. Go for it!
