AT&T to sell Garmin Nuvifone for $500?

Garmin is reportedly in the midst of surveying users whether they would buy their Nuviphone through AT&T (NYSE: T) for $499.99 with a two year contract. The deal would include unlimited Internet browsing and unlimited Navigation plan for $19.99 per month and one of the standard voice plans for a monthly fee.
Sounds a lot to me. Still, if they managed to market it properly and deliver seamless experience in other, non-navigation areas, they may succeed after all. There’s HSDPA, WiFi and a 3 megapixel camera on board. We’ll watch this closely, have no doubt about it.

Problem for me is that it’s ugly and therefore falls at the first hurdle for me. I know touch-screen phones can’t do much about their restriction to being shaped like a rectangle but why do they not exploit other mediums of individuality. I know this could be said for a lot of mobile phones but why do they only ever feature the colours black and silver?
Good call! They should definitly releases these type of phones with other color options to help make up for the highly “original” retangular design. lol. I mean, atleast release a blue, green, and red color line to make it look more apealing!
I WAS WAITING FOR THE THIRD QUARTER TO DECIDE BETWEEN THE NEW 3G IPHONE OR THE NUVIFONE. IS THE NUVIFONE FOR 499.00 REALLY 300.00 BETTER THAN THE NEW IPHONE FOR 199.00? NOW GAMIN SAYS THE NUVIFONE WONT BE COMING OUT UNTIL THE FOURTH QUARTER. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY HAS MADE MY MIND UP. IPHONE, HERE I COME
Wow, more touchscreen trash. When will these companies realize that men want buttons. is it really that hard to do both? They did it with the tilt, that phone has been out a while now and will still be better than the Iphone 3g or Garmins offering. Back to the drawing board fellas. Ohh, if you do want a weak total touchscreen phone, the blackberry coming out will pwn these two.
