Video support coming to Sidekick LX

T-Mobile Sidekick Gekko rumors not enough for you? Well, here’s another Sidekick rumor to keep you on your toes.

T-Mobile Sidekick LX to get video support soon

As evidenced by the screenshots you see above and below, the Sidekick LX looks to be getting some sweet, sweet video support in the very near term. The two screenshots confirm that both video recording and video playback will be included in the update. HipTop3 reports that H.264 is likely to be the codec of choice, but there’s also talk of H.263 support. Whether or not the Sidekick LX will be endowed with H.264 or H.263 decoding-love has yet to be seen, but if we had to put our money on it, we’d say that H.264 is coming via an OTA (Over The Air) update.

I have a question, if the Lx has a Video update, why not the Slide too? They’re both basically the same, the Slide is just smaller, it slides and doesn’t have wireless Blue Tooth, other then that, it’s just always the Lx that gets updates. I have a Slide so I’m just saying.

Taylor Kong, the Sidekick Slide does have wireless BlueTooth. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

This update just happened. something like 2 different OTA updates, and now I can record and playback my own videos. haha. the sidekick lx also has it’s own alarm [just one, and daily] so you don’t have to have an app do it for you.

So I received this sklx update and im not too impressed. Videos record 20 sec tops. Sound quality can be better when playing via speaker. The better playback sound is heard via stereo bluetooth. Does anybody know if there is a websites that we updated lx’ers can download videos?

The answer is yes, we are able to send and receive videos from other phones. But so far only from other updated lx’ers. Our lx only supports 3gp videos. That means no exchange to or from blackberry or nokia phones yet. For those that don’t have the update yet, wait a little while longer. Im still researching the full capabilities of this upgrade. Feel free to ask any questions about the features and functions and I’ll answer quicker than u got the upgrade.

I just got this update like yesterday.. I got suprised cuz I never heard of it until my phone showed me this thing where it said “your sidekick lx is ready for the update” now I’m happy with what my phone can do now..

i got my update @ 5:36 am and its ok so far but how do i put videos on my phone.. i went to wma on my pc and tried to put the videos on my phone like i do music but it doesn’t work…

Jenai, the video upgrade has to be appreciated for what it is at this point. Videos recorded by the lx are the only videos that can be played on the lx. Videos received from other devices (unless its an lx), or from a computer store in the memory card and are not able to be viewed. What I do know is that the videos are in the 3gp format. If someone can figure out how to configure the vidoes to be compatible with the lx… let me know asap!

The video update for my LX is fun to use!! The sound affects could be a little bit better next time, && video timing could be at least a minute.. But it’s only 20 seconds.. But yeah && plus the graphics on the LX are more better!! Like the AIM doesn’t show the AOL image, it shows the AIM image (which I like). The MSN looks more better now since it looks like the new Windows Vista.. && Yahoo still looks the same.. The Camera image on the menu looks very stunning.. && the MP3 looks better when it’s updated.. Okay.. That’s all I have to say about the LX upgrade.. Email me if you wanna ask me stuff about the upgrade if it didn’t happened to yours yet..

Im happy for all of you who finally caught up and got this upgrade. But I have to say, for all the idiots who think that they are ‘forcing’ the upgrade by continuously restartng their lx are plain dumb, desperate, and decieved. Danger and t-mobil are working to meet the deadline and are sending out the upgrade in large groups. If u get it after 5 or 50 restarts… its a coinsidence.

As for me, being an adult lx user… I am being disappointed more by each passing day. The best part of the upgrade now was waiting in suspense. Things are undeniably new, but looking at the performance of the lx in comparison to my iphone, face it… there is no comparison. “Silly rabbit… LX’s are for kids”

It seem to me that its pretty wackk because they just made a new lx that has video and the gekko so what’s the point and it only has 20 second all the sidekicks … might as well use your digital camera and call it a damn day … but I still want my UPDATE .. ii juss got the update 2day there are pretty siick ii liike the new viideo recordiing but the capture tiime should be alot longer then juss 20 seconds and ii had to delete alot of my themes iin order to test my viideo recordiing guess ii should get a larger memory card lol

i got my update, but it wont let me take pics or record video, i got a memory card ( san disk 1gb) and it still wont work, it lets me bluetooth and upload music and videos and blah blah..but wont let me take pics or record video says sometimes ” no card” or says ” your device is running on memory” i have nothing on my phone that takes up memory!! if anyone can help me, please dooo!! earth2ebbtron@yahoo.com..please!!

Found out that some of the videos that download to the iphone are viewable by the lx… try a few vids by downloading via pc to lx and if you get it, let me know so I can pass on the info. Im still reachable though my aim: wisdombk

The LX will play .3gp or .mp4 video files. If you hit up the message boards over at poweredbydanger.com there are people with suggested programs (and a webpage or 2) that’ll help convert your mpeg, avi, blah blah blah to the 2 formats I mentioned above so you can play them on your LX. I’ve already got a handful of videos and they’re pretty spiffy.

Made my phone get the update……just sign off of EVERYTHING…. shut your phone off then turn it back on and if the G7 is getting signals for more than 3 minutes, the update is coming…..it takes about 30 minutes…..set ya LX down for a few and just wait

Listen people (Munch) where there is a will, there is a way. Try downloading a video that is small in size to your pc then to your sk. Try different video formats. It might suprise you what comes next. Frostwire is a good source of video downloads for others who need a headstart in catching up with ancient history. The new move is the Blackberry Bold™ for all those up to date.
