Sprint Palm Treo 800w to sport Internet Explorer 7.11?

Details on unreleased handsets sometimes pop up in some unlikely places. The Sprint (NYSE: S) Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Treo 800w is slated to release in a couple months, but that apparently has stopped a user from testing their own Palm Treo 800w on DSL Reports‘ website.
The user-agent data shows that the bandwidth tester was using a Palm Treo 800w on Sprint’s network. Display resolution was apparently set at 320×320. But, most interesting is the mention of Internet Explorer (IE) 7.11.

I mentioned some time ago that Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) was working to completely overhaul their Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE) mobile web browser with full Flash, Silverlight, and H.264 support. The new browser was set to launch with a version of Windows Mobile 6.1 later this year, and the IE 7.11 that we see in the Palm Treo 800w’s user-agent could very well be that next-generation Internet Explorer Mobile.
Of course, IE 7.11 could simply be the slightly updated version of PIE that currently calls Windows Mobile 6.1 its home. Furthermore, user-agent’s can be spoofed, so take all this with a grain of salt.
