I can't wait to get the HTC Touch Diamond into my sweaty hands, and I'm sure there are a lot of you out there that feel the same way. Alas, we won't be getting any HTC Diamond goodness for some time to come, but that doesn't mean we can't pass the time with some HTC Touch Diamond vs. Apple iPhone action!
Engadget Mobile has managed to score an HTC Touch Diamond of their very own and has pitted the iconic Apple iPhone against the revamped HTC Touch handset. The winner? Well, you decide…

I don't think there's any winner. It depends on user preference, I have used both. Why do people keep claiming one to be a winner over the other, like one of the two OSes should just stop existing. No device can be perfect and thanks God for that 'cus if that day came then innovation would stop happening. Besides there's enough room for all the WMs, Iphones, Nokias, SEs and a whole lot of more vendors, so they can happily keep on sucking on consumers blood.

I agree. There really can't be a so called "winner". Both phone has it's own unique set of specs and although they can compete with eachother, it's really all up to the consumer. If someone wants an iPhone then they will get an iPhone. Same goes with the Diamond. There is still plenty of room out there for more phones to come into the mix aswell. We can never hope for the "perfect" phone because a day when everyone has the same phone is the day people will be sad because they can't show off their "better phone" to their friends!

There is certainly no winner here. Two different OS. Two different screen sizes. And two different audiences. If anything, I prefer to use a Windows Mobile 6 Professional device for all its integration goodness with Windows Live and Microsoft Exchange.

These photos just showed me exactly how small and elegant the Diamond is. If only the touch wasn't so slow and nonresponsive.

the Diamond is small but then the screen size also decreases [:(] i dont understand why manufacturers give bigger screens..3.5inches is ideal IMO

I think it will cost too much.

I tested the Diamond and found some concerning issues.
The device looks amazing, that's correct, but still - I believe it has many problems.

You can't even do tethering with the IPhone on AT&T without hacking it. For some people that travel with their laptops it's a pretty big deal. Why buy a wifi card for your laptop and the internet plan with it when your phone is perfectly capable of doing the same thing. I also think it's not so bright buying a phone where one entity controls whatever software goes on it. Apple has already put it's foot down on one very useful feature. Making and distributing apps for a windows mobile device is simple and uses the same interface that MS developers are used to using. I could go on and on about the differences between the two types of phones from my perspective. Obviously I'm sold on windows mobile. I also understand why other people may be drawn to an IPhone especially since the diamond is taking forever to hit the US market. Windows comes with some glitches but IPhone's latest release hasn't come without it's own either. That being said I wish the diamond's screen was a little bigger but from the demo's I've watched it shouldn't be an issue. Plus it's a VGA screen with almost the same battery life and has video recording with a higher res camera. I personally can't wait until a phone can flip all the way out into a full size laptop with a 15" hdef screen and a blazing graphics card with OC3 data speed. Just a matter of time… Maybe right after we all get our flying cars. Now that would be sweet! http://www.moller.com/skycar.htm
