Intelliscreen brings “Today Screen” functionality to iPhone

The iPhone lacks many things that have come to be taken for granted by many mobile enthusiasts. A functional “Today Screen” that displays at-a-glance information is one of the features that Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) failed to include in their first handset offering. But, that doesn’t mean the prolific iPhone developer community is going to sit idly by and accept Apple’s oversight.
Enter Intelliscreen. With a bit of jailbreak-magic, Intelliscreen puts calendar info, email, SMS text messages, news and weather right on the iPhone’s locked-screen – the “Slide To Unlock” screen, if you will. Intelliscreen displays the most recent data in categorized panes on your iPhone’s locked-screen. Each pane allows you to scroll through your information conveniently on the iPhone’s display, and gives you the option to launch the mail, SMS text message, calendar, etc. applications with a quick swipe through the information-pane.
You’ll need to jailbreak your iPhone to make Intelliscreen work – hit up our iPhone Jailbreak guide to get jiggy with third-party iPhone applications. Then add the “http://www.intelliborn.com/repo/Intelli.plist” application repository to your Installer.app’s “Source” list (here’s how). Find “Intelliscreen” and install it, but be warned, this is beta software.
