Cellphone more important than wallet, keys or iPodWe live in an age where the cellphone in our pockets are our vital link to our family, friends, worldly news, and business communications. So, it’s no wonder that the hyperconnected among us (if you’re reading this, chances are, you fall into that category) consider the mobile phone as their single most important possession.

A new study, commissioned by Nortel, has found that more people would choose their cellphone over their iPod (MP3 player), keys, wallet, or laptop if they had to venture our into the great outdoors for more 24 hours. The findings show that 38% of those surveyed would choose their mobile phone, while 30% would choose to take their wallets.

Furthermore, it seems that 16% of respondents fall into the “hyperconnected” category - using no less than seven devices and nine applications (like text messaging, IM, and social networks) to accomplish their work and personal mobility goals. The number of hyperconnected individuals is expected to hit 40% by 2013.
