Canadians to get cheap unlimited data rates for Apple iPhone on Rogers?

By now it’s clear that Canadians will officially welcome the iPhone through the country’s Rogers (NYSE: RCI) wireless network. The Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone is expected to hit Rogers in the near-term, but it remains to be seen just how much the iPhone will cost in Canada.
Still, there’s good news for our iPhone-longing friends to the North. Electronista is reporting that Rogers may allow the iPhone to surf the web using its $7 unlimited data plan. The web-browsing plan allows all Rogers devices to surf the web with no limit for just $7 a month. If Rogers does indeed allow the iPhone’s more capable Safari browser to make use of one of the world’s cheapest unlimited data plans, it could prove to be a huge draw for potential iPhone customers in Canada.
Now, we wait for Apple to drop the 3G iPhone bomb on The States…

yes the iphone is coming,
yes there is an unlimited data plan,
yes the safari browser is a more capabale browser,
but understand this,
the n95-4 just got released for rogers,
marketed as a 3g device for rogers vision with unlimited data for $7 a month,
BUT the nokia web browser is not supported,
rogers installed their own WAP only, no mouse pointer, rogers mobile browser.
the iphone, at the moment, is not any more capable than nokia’s n95-4, yet rogers stripped it of it’s dignity as the one of the best smartphones in the world.
Ouch… I didn’t know they did that :S ppl should just stick to unlocked phones in Canada
But even with an unlocked phone, would they be able to use the $7 unlimited plan? Or would they NEED to buy a phone with this Rogers browser installed?
Plus, $7 for an unlimited web usage plan? That’s like $5 bucks here in the States! Man, I wish!
I don’t think rogers wireless will give a $7 unlimited plan. They are too greedy. Imagine the data plan they offer today. It’s unbelievably expensive! You charged by the number of bytes as if this virtual thing is gold! You are literally burning money. If they are going to continue doing this then Canada will be left out in technology. I wish more players like AT&T will come into Canada. Too bad it won’t come true. Poor iphone I can’t surf the net unless there’s wifi with no password….
This is for WAP browsing ONLY using Rogers-branded devices.
So if you want to look at a full webpage, you can, but it must be incredibly painful and shitty for you to do so, and iPhone won’t be doing it let me tell you that.
One thing I know is they won’t be offering their “amazing wireless experience” unless they include AFFORDABLE unlimited data for the iPhone!!
PLUS Rogers is making Canadians sign onto their iPhone 3G for a YEAR MORE than Americans at no reduced price! That’s RIDICULOUS! It had BETTER be an amazing plan otherwise no one will do that.

- I signed up for “unlimited browsing” and was still charged for excess data. I called and it has to be w/ the wap “rogers” browser
But I complained and got the charges reversed
There is not unlimited data plan for the iPhone.
There is however a new $30 data plan.
