HTC Diamonds are shipping!

By Dusan Belic on Saturday, May 31st, 2008 at 7:02 AM PST In Devices, HTC, Windows Mobile

HTC DiamondHTC Diamond fan boys, this is the news you’ve been waiting for. Not only have HTC Diamond shipments started (and some stores are already selling the device), but the Taiwan-based smartphone maker has already shipped the first batch of over 10,000 units, according to market sources.

In Germany, HTC will co-operate with T-Mobile (NYSE: DT), where the two companies will market both the Diamond and the QWERTY-keyboard equipped Raphael, which the Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT) owned mobile operator will start selling as MDA Compact IV and MDA Vario IV, respectively.

Unfortunately, we’ve no idea when will see the latest HTC devices hitting other European markets and the U.S. One could argue the handset maker may want to use T-Mobile to push its smartphones outside Germany, in other markets where the carrier operates. Which leads us to the U.S., where unfortunately, we’re still waiting for T-Mobile’s 3G network roll-out. I just hope they don’t bring the “EDGE flavor of the Diamond” there — it’s about time we see T-Mobile’s 3G offering hitting the States.

    Hi stupid dude Raidum,
i am almost 35… so I don’t give a damn about cool. And I sure don’t go around offending strangers on the internet.
Please shove the word fabulous up your Sweet ass to feel Awesome.

  6. Raidium says:

    Hey GHim,

I was being sarcastic for one. So no reason to freak out. Second, I don’t care how old u are, u still act like a 2yr old with that attitude. I love how you put “i dont go around offending strangers” and then said what u did afterwords. I didn’t say a damn thing about cool so ur just putting words in my mouth and I dont appreciate that. So what ur mouth little one before you get put in the corner. So why don’t you go take some happy pills and draw in ur coloring book cause you really need to calm down. Its called sarcasum (aka, a joke) so seriously, act ur age and “get with the times” :D

  7. GHim says:

I’ve had my happy pill … so peace.

  8. Raidium says:

Sounds good! Sorry for offending u if I did. lol. Peace.

  9. Zak says:

I agree with chris, the windows mobile OS isnt user friendly enough for me yet.

  10. Brian says:

Fortunately HTC is doing what one is supposed to do for an OS - write programs that run atop it.
Strip all the extraneous WinMo crap and use the API’s.
When treated that way, WinMo isn’t that much worse than the other OS’s out there.
In fact, when you look at the embedded base of products that have done just that, the OS looks almost functional.
Expecting a pleasant Apple-like UI straight out of the Redmond can has never been a satisfactory possibility. Seeing what HTC has put out demonstrates a very good implementation of the program features over OS model as opposed to the OS features is program model.
Have been very gratified to see the iPhone ratchet up the competition and can only hope the rivalry spurs continued innovation on both sides.

  11. Gaines says:

Excellent post, Brian. I completely agree.
