q BREW 08: Qualcomm positions as Operator friendly

Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) has stated that it’s intentions as regards mobile contents services is to “sit behind” MNOs, not compete with them, Ovi-style.

At BREW 08, Andrew Gilbert, EVP and president of Qualcomm Internet Services, stressed that his company was an ‘operator friendly’ service provider.

Apparently Gilbert was referring specifically to the BREW “download ecosystem”, the MediaFLO (broadcast) Mobile TV platofrm, and other areas that Qualcomm are involved in, such as M-commerce, and Geo-tagging (Ooh, I love those red-hot buzzwords  )

Personally, I am waiting to see where MediaFLO rolls out next – there’s a very good chance it could be the UK, given the recent news regarding our L-Band auction, and Qualcomm’s $16mn purchase….
