iPhone 3G technical data and specifications

iPhone 3G dimensionsSure, you already know that the iPhone 3G spec-sheet already lists 3G and GPS as standard equipment, but what else do you get for that new, lower sticker-price? Well, keep reading…

The iPhone 3G isn’t exactly “3G.” What the hell am I talking about? Of course the iPhone 3G is 3G-capable, right?

Actually, the iPhone 3G isn’t “3G” in the strictest interpretation of the term. With HSDPA compatibility, the iPhone 3G can actually pull down wireless data at 3.5G data speeds – not exactly new for many 3G handset owners, but fans of the iPhone’s incredibly sexy design and clean lines will no doubt be scrambling to get on a 3.5G (HSDPA) network near them on their brand new iPhone 3G.

At the risk of drawing the ire of many iPhone haters, I’ve gotta say, the iPhone 3G is even sexier than the first and there’s no other handset that comes close in terms of aesthetic appeal. And, with HSDPA and GPS in tow, the iPhone 3G can now play with the big boys. What more could anyone want? Physical keyboard…bah.

And, that integrated GPS hardware isn’t just good for tracking your position in real-time on Google Maps, it also geo-tags your pictures. Unfortunately, 2 megapixels is as good as it gets on the iPhone 3G, for now.

Lol.. “what more could one ask for”? And then you answer one of those things yourself. Better camera. Video calling. MMS. Bluetooth stereo (HELLO!!!!!!!!!). Flash (HELLO!!!!!). Video recording (2XHELLO!!!!!!!).
Decent pricing (YES, with the increased data plan rates on AT&T at least its actually MORE expensive than the original).

    Blah. No, actually: BLAH.

  • Ali Fuat

Yeah, there’s no sense having no VGA cam in front of the device unless you want to highlight your product in the term “3G”.

  • fenris

Oh, don’t worry. Everything will be fixed in a firmware update within a year or so.

  • peter

yeah you’ll add the front camera with just a single firmware update – rofl rofl rofl

  • Ali Fuat

    Respect @fenris.:D

    Paul GlandoSR.
We have a 3G pnone that uses data when the phone of off. the phone is not powered down but just off. We turned off all apps and we switched off 3G switch and the Cellular Data switch. We did a reset on this phone. When the phone us used we always use it on WiFi with the two switches off. The phone continues to use data. We installed a monitor on the phone that reports then the phone uses WiFi and data and it reports where the data is used. The monitor say the phone is on WiFi but ATT says the phone is using data. Next thing we are going to try is switch the sims card to another phone to see if the problem follows the sims card. We thought the problem might follow the phone number. Could you help with this problem.
