With Steve Jobs looking for a simultaneous global release of the iPhone 3G in 22 countries, it makes sense that carriers everywhere are starting to make it known that the iPhone 3G will be coming to their corner of the world.
Rogers (NYSE: RCI) Wireless has announced that they too will be offering the iPhone 3G on July 11. “Rogers has a long history of bringing Canadians the very best in wireless services, networks and handset innovations,” said Rob Bruce, President, Rogers Wireless said. “With iPhone 3G, we will provide our customers with an amazing mobile experience over Canada’s fastest wireless network.”

Just a month’s wait separates Canadians, and the rest of the world, from iPhone 3G bliss.

Wow. They will actually sell it in Canada! What a break through, such innovation.
Actually, the fact that Apple will be releasing the iPhone 3G in 22 countries all over the globe on the same day, with the right firmwares for each region, at roughly the same price points is quite a feat. I don’t know if it qualifies as “innovative” or a “breakthrough,” but the logistical aspects of such a product launch are mind-boggling – unprecedented, even.
I can’t think of any other manufacturer that has launched a new device simultaneously around the world.
I don’t think rogers wireless will give a $7 unlimited plan. They are too greedy. Imagine the data plan they offer today. It’s unbelievably expensive! You charged by the number of bytes as if this virtual thing is gold! You are literally burning money. If they are going to continue doing this then Canada will be left out in technology. I wish more players like AT&T will come into Canada. Too bad it won’t come true. Poor iphone I can’t surf the net unless there’s wifi with no password….
I pay $65 per month for:
*150 anytime mins
*unlimited rogers 2 rogers/fido
*2500 outgoing texts
*voicemail, caller ID ect..
*UNLIMITED BROWSING!!!! (edge) but I’ll be honest on the opera browser it’s quite fast
I’d prefer paying around $50 for all those features plus video calling (my next phone will probably have North American 3G)
Is that really overpriced? What do you americans/europeans get charged?
I pay about $90-$100 for:
2 iPhone lines
900 anytime mins (between both lines)
unlimited mobile to mobile
unlimited night and weekends
2000 text messages
unlimited data
visual voicemail
And let me say this… I’d happily pay more for unlimited 3G data. And, actually, come July 11, I will be paying about $20 more for both iPhones to get unlimited 3G data.
Lets see, cant really discuss how much I pay because its uncomparable. I have an employee plan through sprint so yeah…its good, lets leave it at that.
My friend however, has the HTC Mogul and he pays $70 a month for:
450 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Nights and Weekends (starting at 7pm)
Unlimited Mobile to Mobile (includes Sprint and Nextel)
No Long Distance Charges
No Roaming Charges
Unlimited Text Messaging
Unlimited Web Browsing (edge)
Unlimited Pic and Vid Messaging
Unlimited Mobile TV
Unlimited Internet Radio
Unlimited GPS Navigation
So its not bad compared to what others pay for there plans. I would discuss mine but seriously, no compare!
What do you need the other line for Will?
One for women, and one for business?
LOL, exactly
I only need 1 phone for that… not much business!
