Sprint announces Samsung Instinct at $200

Sprint Samsung Instinct pricing announcedApple and Steve Jobs threw us all a slight curveball by announcing an incredibly low-priced iPhone 3G - even Sprint, was taken for a loop. Not to be outdone by Apple and AT&T, Sprint has announced its new price-point for its iPhone 3G-fighter, the Samsung Instinct.

Sprint wants you to seriously consider spending your $200 on their CDMA-flavored Samsung Instinct, rather than handing over that cold, hard cash to AT&T for an Apple iPhone 3G. And, it’s probably not all that coincidental that Sprint waited for Apple to announce the iPhone 3G at WWDC 2008 before going live with its own pricing schedule.

But, it’s not all cheap-fun and low-priced games at Sprint. The No. 3 US wireless carrier is offering the Samsung Instinct for $200 only when purchased with new contract and rebates are applied. Instinct hopefuls looking for a good deal will find that Sprint is requiring them to sign up for on of Sprint’s Simply Everything plans to get in on that low, low $200 price point.

If that sounds familiar, Sprint’s moves mirror AT&T’s requirement that iPhone 3G customers sign up for a two-year contract with qualifying iPhone rate plans. Hey, if you can’t beat ‘em, straight-up copy ‘em, yo!

In the end, it’s the consumer that reaps the benefits of tooth-and-nail competition.

Sprint just play a not smart price game like ATT did for iPhone 3G. I guess sprint want to get more user with samsung instinct and compete with ATT’s iPhone strategy. Both are price game player only.

This is a great price. I want one.

You really can’t argue with these prices. And when u get one of these, ur ganna want to go on the Simply Everything to reap all the benefits of the phone! I really wouldn’t consider offering a customer any less with this phone. I believe this phone has alot of potential and I expect to sell alot of these this summer! :D

It’ll be hot for sure. You’ll sell a ton!

How about iPhones with AT&T service ;)

    • Raidium says:

Sorry man…I would but my store only sells Sprint, Nextel, and Verizon Wireless! No AT&T Here!

    • Will Park says:

Yea, I know. AT&T locked out third-party retailers over a year ago, I believe - which sucks. I was just ribbin’ you, Raidium. :)

    • Stephanie says:

So how much will the phone be for me? I don’t qualify for the rebate. But will buy it outright!!! Will I be looking at $350?

    • King2005 says:

I’ve read on another site that with the 2-year and Simply Everything rebates, buying it outright from Spring will be 450. OUCH!!! Lucky for me, I was planning on renewing my contract and switching to the $70 Simply Everything plan anyway. Depending on the reviews, I’ll be buying this phone ASAP!

    • Ken says:

      …so, the article said Sprint’s #3, who’s #2? (I know who’s #1, we ALL know)

    • Will Park says:

      #1 AT&T
      #2 Verizon Wireless
      #3 Sprint

But, that may all change with Verizon’s acquisition of Alltel.
