I also did a warranty exchange that would place the new phone within the time zone for free exchange. Does the free exchange apply to people like Matt and I?

do you know anything about this?
All AT&T and APPLE locations nationwide on launch day of the new iphone, will give priority to those who are already AT&T customers.
Reasons being:
1: influx of new phone number requests
2: limited devices in each location to create hype
3: suggests for you become an AT&T customer now, have your AT&T phone number, just take the free phone AT&T offers and your day on July 11 will be smooth. The SIM card from your AT&T phone goes right into the iphone.
Also, the iphone is not insured by AT&T so if you loose if or it breaks you have to deal with Apple not AT&T, there is no significant value of getting the contract and iphone at the same time.

There is still some specifics that haven't been laid out for this. I got my iphone on May 27th, and had to warranty exchange it at an Apple store on the 29th. Does this apply to me now, as the iPhone I have is not the one that I originally activated...

Of course, your phone number will be ported to your new iPhone 3G, so your old iPhone won't be anything more than a thicker iPod Touch. So, you might as well gift it or sell it. Just make sure you wipe your personal data beforehand - don't say we didn't warn you.

Uh, you might want to clear that phone and get it on Ebay quick. The ability to unlock at a deal is gone, so the 2G iPhone has gone from slow to the only one that someone is going to be able to use on T-Mobile, so I might be really nice to my current iPhone, its the better one...
