Mobile commerceIt’s not an incredibly large proportion of the US population that has done so, but it seems that more than 9 million Americans (9.2M, to be exact) have used their mobile phones to pay for goods or services in the past. And, more encouraging is the statistic that 49% of data users plan to give mobile commerce a shot in the future.

Interestingly, males are more prone to use their cellphones to pay for goods and services than are females. Where 4.5% (4.9 million) of men had used mobile commerce services, 3% (4.3 million) of women participated in mobile commerce. And, adults aged 25-34 are more likely to adopt handsets-as-payment methods – 5.4% (3 million) of adults aged 25-34, compared to 3.6% of all wireless subscribers.

So, what say you, fellow Americans. Will you be hopping on the mobile commerce-train when presented the opportunity? Or will you hold on to that trusty wallet just a bit longer?
