Qik coming to Windows Mobile

By Dusan Belic on Monday, June 16th, 2008 at 1:46 AM PST In Announcements, Applications, Windows Mobile

I’m sure you already know what’s Qik all about. They call themselves the live mobile video streaming platform which allows users to stream video directly from their mobile phones to the Internet. Initially, the application was available for select Nokia (NYSE: NOK) NSeries phones, but now they’re expanding onto other platforms. We’ve already posted that the iPhone app is in the works, and so is the version for the Windows Mobile platform.

QikStill in the “alpha invitation only” stage, the Windows Mobile application is at the moment available for the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Q and Samsung BlackJack only, so if own one of these phones you can sign-up to give Qik a try. Feel free to drop us you comments once you do that.

Commenting on the announcement, Qik’s CEO Ramu Sunkara said: “We look forward to an ongoing relationship with Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT). In the meantime, Qik continues to provide a service that helps keep friends and families stay connected, features breaking news from professional media and citizen journalists, and fosters a totally new kind of communication.”

The company is working closely with the Windows Mobile team to get the product offering into beta in the coming months, as well as expanding to additional Windows Mobile phones.

Full release is available on BusinessWire.
