Samsung i900 Omnia

It seems LG is not the only one which likes to certify its devices for DivX. Samsung also does that, even though we missed their releases on DivX certification. Their iPhone killer device, i900 Omnia, is the first DivX certified Windows Mobile smartphone. And while I’m not sure that will help them boost sales, I sure hope that will help (not that I have anything against the iPhone).

The Samsung Omnia is the first Windows Mobile-based DivX Certified phone on the market and the fourth Samsung mobile to achieve DivX Certification. It features 8GB/16GB of internal memory with a micro SD slot, allowing users to keep a media library on the device, and easily enjoy their video on a large 3.2-inch touch screen. It also features a TV-Out feature to play back content from the phone directly on the television screen. This powerful experience and a portable library gives users the choice of how and where to watch their video. DivX technology enables a high-quality media experience in which video content can be seamlessly transferred from the PC to the mobile environment and beyond.

The Samsung i900 Omnia should hit South East Asia any time soon (mid June) and European countries shortly thereafter. We’re still not aware of the price, though.

The Viewty and Secret aren’t Samsung devices….

“There’s no secret Samsung loves to certify its devices for DivX. We’ve seen them do that with the Secret and Viewty. And now they decided to push their iPhone killer, i900 Omnia…”

Secret & Viewty are from LG & not Samsung.

it would be nice after searching 20 different sites and watching videos on this phone if just one place reviewed the TV out. Honestly its one of the more important features of the phone. whats the resolution of the tv out? and there’s no review on the video editing program. or programs are compatible with this phone.
its sad that most people who buy expensive pda phones just want them for show, to show people they have money. no one really cares bout functionality. I would like to use this phone for remote desktop use to access all my media via tv out and audio out. what.

Just found this on another site:

ust saw you are wondering about the DivX support on the Omnia phone.

    Here some answers:

    - the phone will also play Xvid files
    - resolution limitation is 720×480. Videos with this resolution or higher will not play on the phone or via TV-out. Bitrate limitation is 1.5 Mbps at 30 fps.

    Hope that helps smile

Hope that can answer some other peoples’ questions!
