T-Mobile announces Sidekick LX update

T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) today announced an update for Sidekick LX owners. A host of upgrades is promised to the existing LX users — including video recording, spell checker, play and share capabilities, an alarm clock, stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), Bluetooth file transfer support, and more. The over-the-air (OTA) update will start making the rounds this week, so if you own the LX – prepare to boost your device’s capability to the Tony Hawk’s level.

I callled tmobile and they said it will automatically be sent to u right now its just being sent randomly and u should have it in the next week or two
yeah, i called tmobile as well, and they said as much as they would want to send it to you personally automatically, they cant. something about serial numbers and that we should be getting it in mid july

From what I heard the updates are suppose to be sent out July 16, with the release of the Tony Hawk sidekick lx. I spoke with a customer representive and she spoke with the dept. that deals with the sidekicks,and thats what she told me.

i heard the OTA was supposed to be released on june 25 and I’ve been waiting ever since but still no update
The update was sent to 1000 random people and thats all for now. Tmobile will then fix any problems with the update that those 1000 people experienced, and then send it out to all sidekick lx users. I was anxious and called. haha

well, yes, it is real for all the people that think its a hoax…i just got off the phone with T-Mobile, and they said that the update has been given out since the end of June…and is going on until the end of July..but they said EVERYONE WILL receive it by the end of July,…just to make sure that the battery is FULLY charged before u update, so all the programs will install smoothly…and she also said..John Mayer received his last night, lmao..i was like ugh DAMN JOHN MAYER!! haha..anyway yeah just thought i’d throw that one out there..so everyone calm down YOU WILL get the update…if not today, tomorrow, if not than by the end of this month..PATIENCE, Is A Virtue!!

I live in miami, and I haven’t got mine yet but a friend of mine that lives up north in florida got his, and that shit is legit! It has a video recorder, you can view and recieve videos, the internet thing is still the same. You can’t watch videos on it…it has an alarm clock, and I really didn’t mess with all the bluetooth stuff so idk..but the update is true.
Mannn I still don’t have my update and there’s only a couple more weeks in July, If anybody in the NY,NJ area gets it holla @ me

hey my sis just got the tony hawk lx that comes with the update and i saw the new stuff and it’s not that great..the video is just as fun as the camera(wich isn’t good) and the new aim features are good(probally the best to me) new enternet features don’t really notice them(depends on website)..oh and i didn’t really see how long the video recorder is

i just found out that the video recorder is ONLY 20 SECONDS!…disapointment..
my friend in tampa got her update, the video is only 20 seconds but it comes with spell check. I used her sidekick and it is nice but nothing to freak about.

I got the playback video and it the best I can watch you tube videos and record up to 1 min so its bad ass am sooo happy
How is it that you can record for 1 min AND watch youtube vids when others say you can only record for 20 secs and aren’t able to watch youtube videos?
I don’t care how shitty the update is, I still want it. You pay $449.99 for a phone(without contact), you would expect to already have these features in the first place.
Ahahhahahahahah. Dame! Ya pay your phone like about $500.ooo. I only paid mine total of $145.99 after a $50.oo mail-in rebate cuz it was a special day and the phone costs only $49.99, with a 1gb sd and a clear case of the value of $49.99, but it have to come with a two years contract which to me, is succ, I hate committment. Yaddadamean cuz?
I only paid $110 for my phone and it was brand new from the insurance company since I had a wing and I just wanted a sidekick I only paid $110.00. Second y n the hell is taking so long for everyone to get the update? I understand that they don’t want to make the server crash or anything but damn even if the features are a lil sucky i just want the bluetooth so i transfer pics and ringtones.

Oh gosh. I live in Jersey and I haven’t received the update yet. I was surprised when I read you cannot watch videos like on youtube with the update. It really sucks. I spoke with a t-mobile representative and she did tell me we were going to be able to watch videos over the internet so I don’t know who’s wrong or right. It will be cool if we could watch videos on the internet.
Well there’s barely over a week left in July & i STILL haven’t received my update! From whut I hear on here its not that great but I still want it…these are things that shud have come standard on a $400 phone (even tho I only paid $180) but why is every1 sayin its 20 secs. long & no internet video viewing but this 1 a-hole says his is a minute long & can watch youtube vids? I think he’s jus tryna mess with us…he prolly doesn’t even have a sk…prolly a razr or sumtin lol…GIVE ME MY UPDATE!!
