There’s no doubt that LTE is the 4G network of choice the world over. With CDMA-based networks like Verizon even planning to switch to the GSM evolution pathway for their future network, it seems that LTE is the way to go. As such, ABI Research has released a new study that projects 32 million worldwide LTE subscribers by 2013.
That means we could see 32 million subscribers signing up with LTE data networks in the 2 or 3 years after the 4G data networks are slated to light off. Apparently, 12 million users will be planted in the Asia-Pacific and Western Europe, while North America will be claiming 8 million LTE subscribers.
Sprint had better get crackin’ and lock-in their bid to win the hearts and minds of US mobile broadband users before LTE swoops in on their turf.
