Swedish military concluded that potential acquisition of TeliaSonera by France Telecom will not have security implications.
Previously we’ve heard Swedish government, a 37% owner of TelaSonera, citing possible security concerns as reasons for not approving the deal.
“The defence forces judge that a change of the ownership in TeliaSonera, provided that sufficient measures are taken to ensure the security interests of the defence forces and other authorities, is feasible from a security perspective,” the military said last week.
Apparently it’s all about the money now. According to sources, TeliaSonera wants to see France Telecom raising its bid by a further $2 billion to reach a total of $44 billion. And with Telenor also showing its interest in TeliaSonera, it’s more than likely they’ll get all the money they want. We’ll keep reporting, naturally.
