Windows Mobile concept phone is solar powered, has secondary slide-out touchscreen keyboard

We haven’t seen too many concepts of late, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like to see what the creative minds envision the future of mobile to be. This latest mobile phone concept, the Eclipse Intuit, was dreamed up by Eddie Goh.

Goh sees a future filled with Windows Mobile devices powered by the oh-so-renewable energy source we call the “Sun.” It’s definitely interesting to see a concept powered by a currently available Windows Mobile platform, but we’d hope a device like this would be rocking some far-out mobile OS that hasn’t even been dreamed up yet.

The main attraction is portions of the device are covered in a chemical-based solar “skin” that helps top off the battery when burning decomposed plants and animals for electricity just isn’t convenient.

But, like all good concepts, this little sucker features some seriously cool high-end features. There’s a 5 megapixel camera, built-in software to edit and upload pics to a photo album, and not one, but two full-body touchscreens. The main touchscreen serves as a display, while a second, slide-out touchscreen panel serves as a touch-sensitive keyboard with “tactile feedback” or a secondary touchscreen display, a la Nintendo DS.

We’ll give Goh the benefit of the doubt and assume that there’s real-deal, localized haptic feedback in his Eclipse Intuit - not the pseudo-haptic, whole-device vibrating feedback nonsense that we’ve been seeing on too many handsets recently.

All in all it’s a cool concept, and it sure would be nice to see the biggest features cross over in to the real-world. But, as it’s a concept, we’ll probably never see the Eclipse Intuit hit market.

The logo for “Eclipse” looks more like “Ecupse”… maybe the slogan should be “2 E’s 1 Cups”
