Awesome, Thanks Brandon. I think I'll wait it out and hopefully it won't change or something better will come along, savings wise. So you work in a store eh? Any chance you're in Atlantic Canada? LOL I don't know if you work on commission or not, but if so, you defintley should get credit for selling me my BB. I was actually considering switching to another provider, just b/c I thought I could get a better deal elsewhere. But you've reminded me why I've been with Aliant all these years. You guys really know your stuff!! Thanks for all your help!

Facebook looks pretty good on a Blackberry. You scroll the pages with the track ball so it' like having a mouse. I'm not aware of changing Blackberry promos, however our systems at my store have also been on the fritz so something might end. I do not know if something better will start tomorrow as everything is under lock and key and no one will see it until tomorrow morning bright and early. You can't go wrong with a Blackberry, they are the leaders for a reason and have been in the "data" game a long time. There is no wider supported device on the market. Applications for whatever floats your boat so to speak.

Hi Brandon :)

So it's almost finally here, the day the instinct launches. After much consideration, I think I'm going to go with the Curve....Although the new samsung sounds great, I'm a much bigger fan of buttons, rather then a touch screen, and the push email. I just noticed that the current promotion for the BB ends today. Just wondering if any of those plans/promotions you mentioned may benefit me if I wait untill tomorrow to purchase it? I've yet to "play" with one yet...I'm really curious to see what the web looks like on it, especially facebook, as my home computer is on the fritz...But I'll more then likely be going with the BB. If only the Instinct had push email....I'd be all over it!!!

The company just had some big changes made to it and August 8th is a big day for us. There are about 5 new phones launching, new plans, etc. The new leadership has a plan in place to basically turn the entire company around and go after the number 1 spot in Canada. I've read alot about this big outrage about the text messaging changes and I just laugh. The only people effected by the change are those that DO NOT text. Everyone that does text has some sort of package and therefore is not affected by the change. As well as Bell is the only carrier (that I have seen in both Canada and the US that gives it's clients Canada and US texting free as part of their package. Therefore, no roaming or long distance for text messages!

As far as us going back to the inferior gsm network...no. We used that network a long time ago and upgraded to CDMA. The network has better capabilities then gsm can handle, not to mention the vastly superior internet speeds. 3G gsm networks top out at about 512kbps, CDMA in Canada currently tops out at 3.1mbps.

Hope that helps.

OMG, wow. I just typed in Bell Canada in google news, and it just came up with all this bad publicity and news for it. Hey Brandon, you thinking about quiting your job pretty soon. lol. Cause from what ive read about Bell, they are going to be worse than Rogers. Man, more people are now praising Rogers and buying Rogers phones over anything Bell. this is not a good sign, for people people who want to the new instinct and have to go through bell to get it. Also, lol, i found it funny, the day the Instinct is released in Canada, ans thats the day you guys start charging 15cents per every message. Wow, and I thought Rogers was bad in July, this is just as worse.

Visual Voicemail, more commonly found in the newer, 3G phones, is a prograsm that allows the user to pick and choose which messages they want to hear, instead of having to hear all of them, in order. Now im not too sure if the Instinct has it, I may be wrong, but the iPhone and a few other new phones have it as well. Now, I heard a rumor about Telus and/or Bell, might possibly be upgrading the change to 3G/GSM Networks, as of recently, could you clarify if these procedures are taking place, or will you guys be staying with the sorta-kinda old/outdated network?

Instant messaging is included. I'm not sure what you mean by visual voice mail so I cannot answer that one at this time. No email is not confined to those. Among other things the phone comes with; a 2gb card preloaded with 200 tracks by hot artists is included. Helps get your library started. As far as continuing that list, with the new posible $500 downloading fines more and more people will turn to sources such as itunes. Well instead of paying per song you can subscribe to the 14.99 per month all you can use package for the music store. This will give you access to over 2 million songs that you can download both to your phone and to your computer no charge. Battery life I'm not sure but comparing to other likes devices I would guess like 5 or more hours continuous use? I'm not sure but I'll see when it launches. It should be very similar to devices like the iPhone. I'm not really sure what they promise.

Hey,
I was wondering if extra costs are applied to use the visual voicemail function or does the plan cover it? Also, the instinct is embedded with Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Hotmail and since the unlimited internet access package covers emailing with hotmail, does it also cover the instant messenging part? and is emailing only confined to hotmail and gmail? and what does the instinct come with (like does it include the 8GB memory card or anything else?)? I'm really sorry for all these questions but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the Instinct and just wanted to clarify some things. and just one last question, I promise. Um, how long will the battery last while I surf the web?

Yes the credit is meant to be used towards the price of a new phone. No the Instinct will not be free with that credit. The credit comes from the retail price of the phone. In the case of an Instinct 479.95. Now many times there are bonus saving when you have certain features with your new phone and plan. For example, a Blackberry can save you an additional $200 off the price of the device just for having the email or internet package you would add to the phone anyways. I don't know the exact prices of the Instinct at this time. But I would imagine it would be in the range of $200 after credit prehaps less. As it is a brand new device and has different data set ups. Go in early on August 8th to (again street front, not mall location, I am part of a street front team and we regularly are thanked for our expertise and kindness)a Bell location and set up your new plan. The credits for upgrading in many cases add up to be less then what a brand new customer will pay for the same device. I expent the phone to sell out quickly at each location.

Brandon,
Since you've been so kind can you answer this one as well. I am just getting out of a 2 yr. contract with bell and have a $250.00 credit to upgrade to a new phone. Do you know if I will be able to use that towards some of the cost towards an Instinct on a new 3 yr. contract. I was almost ready to go with another phone but if I could use the credit as I think then I would be paying nothing.
Thanks, take care

depending on your plan the mobile broswer may act as your data. mobile browser is a limited version of the internet for cell phones. a pda that runs from this system has the capabilities of giving you full html browsing for the same price. The data for the instinct on it's own is a $10 feature, or included in fun bundles. just go in and talk to a rep at any (non mall) location. they have more time to answer questions and help you out.

Brandon,

Currently, I am on the last 6 months of my contract and I want to extend my contract to get the instinct. I have unlimited mobile browswer on my plan. But I am not sure what I can or can't do with the phone (e.g. surf the web, use email, etc.) Can you clarify the difference between havin unlimited mobile browswer and data?

that 6gb is just part of a promo which will mostly likely end soon. back to $30 for 300mb like it originally was. plus you run on a much faster and more expansive high speed network with bell.

Um...the iphone...you don't have to fork 115$ for like not even unlimited data plan. I have the iphone and currently on my regular plan, plus the $30 for 6gb plan, and 6gb is basically unlimited...I've been surfing the internet every day on my phone and browsing youtube, and I havent even hit 1gb yet... 6gb for $30 is basically unlimited, who uses more than 6gb of data? Oh and by the way I pay about $50 a month...$30 for the data plan, and $20 for my family plan. Hell of a bargain on my part.

Hey I'm sorry about jumping down your throat. I was just kind of frustrated at the time that after everyone was kinda on the same page about how these work, everyone got confused again. Wasn't just you, there was another comment the other day that I found kinda dumb. I understand how confusing this stuff can get so I try and explain to everyone that it's is not so bad and that no one is out to get them lol. It seems alot of people want things from there phones that simply are not needed or warranted. websites don't need every picture to be used so they are compressed. It makes costs go down and such. The risks involved with getting a new phone are always resolved by spending the time in the store to learn how to operate the device and pick the right one for you. As it is you that uses the phone for the next few years not us.

Okay, your right again. My friend in the States has an Instinct, and initially told me that Verizon didnt clasify it as a smartphone, or else i misunderstood him, cause i was drunk last time i talked to him so he might have said that the Instinct is a smartphone, but he just re-assured me it is a smartphone. And yea, it does make more sense to call it a smart phone, with web, gps, etc etc. And yea.

@ Victoria - I hope you havent fully made up your mind yet, and I hope that you read my last comment and this one regarding your BB. I was confused and totally misjudged what Brandon was saying, so yea, hope to hear from you on here again.

@ Brandon - I am truely sorry for any inconviences, and mis-informed I was. Now I know how it all works, and now I wont be telling false accusations or incorrect information about cell phone, contract, plans, etc. So thank you for clarifying it.

WOW ok buddy, take it down a notch. My mistake, I was 100% wrong about it. The way you were saying it in your last comment was that once you sign up on a contract, you cannot change your plans, but you can change your phone, which makes no sense, but thats how i thought it worked cause our Cell phone industry in Canada really sucks @$$, so yea. My APOLOGIES. I WAS WRONG.

*** I WAS WRONG **** - there happy?? lol

@ Victoria - There you go, you can sign up for the BB, and if you dont like it, you can change phones and change plans, so that they wont charge you for data if the phone you get doesnt. So yea, your good to go, so I hope you understand it now, if not, then I or Brandon can explain it more.

AND ummm I dont know why, but in the states, the Instinct is just classified as a normal cell phone, not a smart phone or nothing special, like iPhone 3G, Nokia N95, BB, etc. I dont know why, but thats just what they classify it as.

ok since i just lost my whole comment i'll keep this one short. you are locked into a contract not a plan. an instinct is a smartphone. the prices of data have come down drastically. you get extra bonuses towards having the internet on the device. once you start on the blackberry you won't think twice about it. I know alot more about consumer experience with these then everyone here, as i work with consumers everyday. you can't have internet on a blackberry once in a while as it will simply disappear on the phone when you don't have a plan. for what you are looking for you want a blackberry, the current costs are well worth it and if they come down even farther down the road change your plan and take advantage of it. you can change your plan twice a year for free, no strings, and change your features whenever you want. some features have a few month requirement. data with the bonus discount is a one year minimum without a penalty. since you will get a $400 discount on the phone. and phones are free for us either.

instinct is a smartphone as well. it has email and full html browsing what else do you think it would be considered? and if it wasn't the iphone wouldn't be either.
