Powerset is the best iPhone-optimized Wikipedia

This is hardly a hot news, but it’s ultra useful for the iPhone/iPod Touch owners. Powerset is the best iPhone-optimized Wikipedia. Period.

Unlike other Wikipedia services optimized for Apple’s handset, not only can you search Wikipedia articles with Powerset and read them optimized for the iPhone/iPod Touch’s scree, but you can also find the exact passage that pertains to the search query. Sure, iPhone has a large screen, but Wikipedia articles can be quite heavy, too, and browsing through them can be a pain from time to time. That’s why this is a killer feature, or at least that’s my take.

Enough rant. Point Safari on your iPhone/iPod Touch to powerset.com and see for yourself what I’m talking about. Alternatively, you may want to see Powerset in action prior to visiting the site. A short demo video follows after the jump…

Dusan Belic

Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application. Dusan used to run SymbianWatch.com which later became part of IntoMobile. He lives in Serbia, South-East Europe, from where he edits the site on a daily basis.

That’s odd. Jimmy Wales said he was not impressed with Powerset and semantic web. I thought everything Jimbo says is the truth?

I’m not talking about their search product here. Just about their iPhone-optimized Wikipedia page.
