Joikusoft, the folks behind the free application that allows users of Symbian S60 powered smartphones to turn their 3G connection into a hotspot, has unveiled the new JoikuSpot Premium Edition, which adds corporate intraweb (VPN) and email protocol support to the mix, allowing “business level use of the solution.”
Instead of targeting consumers, the Premium Edition seems primarily made for Operators, OEMs and Corporates, though individuals can also buy it (at least the official release suggests so). That being said, the application is fully customizable for the licensee branding and feature configuration needs.
Before I let you go, I need to add my two cents. I’ve nothing against the idea of mobile operators allowing their customers to turn their 3G connection into a hotspot. However, I prefer the individual license to use my 3G connection the way I want to. Just give me the unlimited data plan and let me find ways of using it. Sure, that involves turning carriers into dumb pipes, but at some point that will happen nevertheless, like it or not.
Anyway, to grab the new JoikuSpot Premium Edition, hop over to also newly unveiled JoikuShop. The application costs 15 EUR and is worth every penny.
