My top 5 free iPhone apps

Here are five iPhone applications you may want to consider installing. I’ve intentionally missed Facebook and MySpace, as I’m sure you’ll install those as well (or at least the one for the social network you’re using the most). Anyway, let’s roll:
eReader – this is a must have app for everyone who enjoys reading. Heck, even if that’s not something you do often, you could read something while commuting in a public transportation or waiting in some queue. Now that I’m thinking, with its 3.5-inch screen, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) should have pre-load the iPhone with some sort of app like eReader.
Evernote – the ultimate note taking application. You can take notes either by typing them, taking a photo or recording your voice. The best thing about it is the web component which allows you to synchronize your notes and access them from where ever you happen to be. You can use it for lists (to-do, shopping, etc), expense tracking, and more.
Jott – we’ve already covered Jott on IntoMobile. Basically, it allows you to turn your voice into notes. But it’s not just for note taking — you can also use Jott for other purposes (the way I’m using it) like adding Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Calendar entries, make to-do lists, add products to your Amazon wishlist, and more. Similar application is also available – reQall.
Loopt – mobile, location-aware social network that will help you connect with your friends while on the go. You can also use Loopt to discover and explore nearby places and events recommended by your friends and other popular services like Yelp.
ShoZu – a single application that allows you to to upload photos and videos to over 45 social networking sites like Flickr, Facebook and YouTube. Additionally, with ShoZu you can update your profile status, read and reply to comments, and download your friends photos. A must have for every social networking junkie!
There are certainly more apps that are worth mentioning, but I wanted to limit my list to five. Have I missed something important? What are your top 5 apps. I’m eager to know!
I think that the app WHERE should be in the top 5. It combines Yelp, Eventful, Buddy Beacon, a local search, and tons more into one app to find people, places, and things around you. You can’t beat that. It has a ton of other cool features too.

If you like these apps, you should put in a good review for each of them on the Apple Store. I was amazed to see how few and poorly-considered reviews some of these had, compared to the better-known apps which clearly get a lot more review time.
