Samsung is sooo serious when it comes to Symbian S60. Apparently, the Korean giant is preparing to launch the first smartphone with 8 megapixel camera. The so called Samsung i8510 will have the following specs:
- 2.8-inch QVGA (240×320 pixels), 16 million colors
- 8.0 megapixel camera with auto-focus and Xenon flash. Videos recording at 120 fps.
- HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, TV out, DivX support, dedicated 3D graphics chip
- Optical mouse, which we’ve already seen in earlier Samsung phones (i780 &and i900 Omnia)
- 1200mAh battery
- Metal casing, measuring 106.5×53.9×16.9 mm
- 16 GB internal memory, though some sources mention 8 GB version as well
In a nutshell – wow! Too bad the screen isn’t VGA, but what the heck, the i8510 rocks, nonetheless… Check out more images after the jump.

WOW!!!!
Too bad I’ve already ordered the G810 (personally, I think the G810 looks better anyways)
Who knows, when this gets released, I might just pick this up too if I’m happy w/ the G810
Uhmm, this sounds good all the way. I hope the battery life wont ruin the experience.
…this better be at least quadband.
Looks really nice and worthy replacer for my N82, but i’ll wait till Nokia’s 8mp is out… if you don’t know what i’m talking read all so mighty Eldars article about upcoming devices.
Can’t give a ling as it seems http://www.mobile-review.com page is down
Goddamit! When will people learn that MEGAPIXELS DO NOT MATTER when the cell and the optics are this small and of poor quality (plastic) as they usually tend to be. (Can’t see even “Carl Zeiss” printed on this one..)
The biggest downside of this insane megapixel race is that the filesizes of the images get bigger and bigger but the amount of concrete image information or detail does not really increase that much.
But well…flash memory is cheap enough these days.
@ aaandrew
Dude, take a chill-pill
I think we all understand your logic, however, having 8 megapixels just sounds nicer than 5
No Carl Zeiss lens? What a Pity!
Also no image stabilizer? Pity indeed!
@randomnut,
image stabilisation is featured:

Although not s60 based, the 8.1-megapixel Sony Ericsson C905 also looks a very capable device.
my intel says it’s windows not s60.
got this phone yesterday, brilliant photos, cant find photo river though! its a really light phone not heavy like some people are saying, its got nice loud ringtones, so far i really like it.
Is this phone available in Metro-Manila, Phils?
