Tag Heuer Meridiist at FCCEven under the harsh lights of the FCC’s testing laboratories, the Tag Heuer Meridiist commands attention. It’s solid-build and shiny-finish convey a sense of quality that many handsets fail to deliver. But, that doesn’t mean the stainless-steel and Sapphire crystal display is worth $5,000.

We’re not going to be “investing” in the Tag Heuer Meridiist, but for those of you itching to show off your new-found riches with a mid-range handset boasting uber-lux materials and build-quality, the FCC has just approved the Meridiist for US-duty.

All those greenbacks that could otherwise help the less fortunate will net you a Tag Heuer-made Meridiist mobile phone with a feature-set that reads straight from a 2001-era spec-sheet – Sapphire crystal display, 2 megapixel camera, 1.9-inch QVGA display, OLED 96×76 pixel secondary display, Bluetooth, leather trim, and a metal casing.

And with the FCC’s greenlight, it’ll be all that much easier to keep up with your yacht-collecting friends in the Hamptons.
