Increase your Sprint Palm Treo 800w EVDO Rev. A upload speeds

Not sure if you’re running true EVDO Rev. A speeds on that new Sprint (NYSE: S) Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Treo 800w of yours? Just because the Palm Treo 800w’s feature-set boasts EVDO Rev. A data speeds out of the box, don’t go off assuming that your upstream data speeds are crossing in to Rev. A territory.
So, how can you make sure that you’re consistently pushing data at 300Kbps? Here’s a quick little keypad-command trick from the geniuses at WMExperts to give you more piece of mind on your Sprint Palm treo 800w’s upload data stream.
- Start up your Sprint Palm Treo 800w “Dial Pad”
- Enter ##EVDO# (for the uninitiated, that’s the same as entering ##3836#)
- See that “secret” command menu? See that little box next to “Enable Rev A?” CHECK that box
- Set Broadband Setting to “Automatic”
- Cruise along at EVDO Rev. A speeds on both the downstream and upstream
That’s it. You paid good money for that Sprint Palm Treo 800w, make sure you get the most bang for your buck. Oh, and make sure to drop us a line and let us know if how much faster your Palm Treo 800w uploads data, and how consistent the increased upload speeds are.

I tried the ##3836# and there was a block on there. I couldn’t get past this to check the speed. Is there another way?
I apologize. It did work and what a HUGE difference. Thanks!
What kind of increase are you seeing? You can use bandwidth speed tools from dslreports.com to measure your data speeds.
Wow! Thanks for the great help. I went to several web sites with heavy graphical content before I made the change to evaluate the speed difference. Then I returned once I made the change and wow what a difference in speed.
I used this update and now am getting 621kbit/sec when I tested my Palm Treo 800w on dslreports.com
I tried that and I got the following message: “Failed TILUtilReadNVItem” Any ideas on that?
I also got the Failed TILU message, but tapped ok on the two error windows, then tapped ok to close the dialer, then I saw the secret menu.
This actually does not work. And slows your phone down even more.
I checked this box and my phones FPS went down by 20% and my latency increased by 27.7%, it is not a good idea to check this box, it will result in increased lag and decresed performance overall on your phone.
Could not get ev network to operate on my treo so I tried your menu idea and you solved something sprint could not…
Great Job !!!
I actually tested the speed after the change and got 901Kbps. I just don’t know what it was before but, it seems a lot faster now.
thanks
