This $1million offer is a bit of a sham. My figures show that it'll only cost them about $48,000.

My experience of the new iPhone Advertising Tools launched by AdMob is that as an Advertiser I was paying 63 cents per click to advertise one of my iPhone Webapps.

As a publisher I was being paid as little as 3 cents per click (yes, 3 cents - not a typo).

It's all PR fodder. The 500 iPhone publishers will each be given a $2000 ad campaign. If AdMob value each click at 63 cents (which they did for my ad), and then only pay out 3 cents per click to the shmuck showing the ads (which they did for clicks on my own iPhone webbapps) - It's going to cost AdMob them a grand total of $95.00 to give the $2000 campaign.
