By now it’s clear that T-Mobile (NYSE: DT)’s newest HipTop, the Sidekick 2008, will be launching sooner rather than later. Good thing, considering T-Mobile will probably want to release a handset named for the year 2008 with as much time left on the 2008-clock as possible.
So, with the Sidekick 2008 (Gekko) headed to a T-Mobile store near you (and possibly Best Buy), it’s time to go live with actual photos of the device in the wild! Cellphonesignal has the pictures that you’ve been waiting for.
Notice the glossy shells and
multiple color choices. The user-swappable, customizable shells don’t add any significant mass to the Sidekick 2008 (Gekko) either. These in-hand shots confirm that the Sidekick 2008 is a bit more svelte and compact than T-Mobile’s more up-range Sidekick offerings.

First and foremost the sk lx and shell are the same no more or no less applications then the other the lx has 4 corner mood lights and the shell has a bigger pixel camera and the talk of a sk touch coming out I think its a myth but I could be wrong if I does so happen to come out I would buy it right now I have a LX and I just bought a 08 for my wifey they seem to fit us fine or if anything go get the G1 I hear its going 2 be a best seller this year
Okay, the sidekick LX and the shell/08 are the same thing. The difference is the LX has the 4corner moodlights unlike the shell/08 as stated above, the shell/08 has a 2.0 megapixel camera and no flash, rather than a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash like the LX, AND the shell/08 is slightly smaller than the LX with interchangeable “frames.”
In regards to the “sidekick touch,” it is called Tmobile G1 phone and it is a GOOGLE phone, not sidekick phone. It is regarded to as a sidekick touch, because it resembles a sidekick when it comes to its shape and flip-open action. It will be available as of November2008.

I’ve had EVERY SIDEKICK made and so far the LX has been the best. The 08 is just a smaller version of the Lx and Id. But it is a cool phone though I have one but I’m selling it because I like my lx better. So if u stay in da Largo/Seminole area in Florida and want one I’m selling it 4 $250 brand new still in box. wow. the lx &. 08 is the same shit. same features different look. lx users – no point in spending money on an 08. only difference is the megapixels in the 08’s camera. i think it’s fugly but if you new users like it then get it. i just wouldnt get it for my own self. my lx is still in dope ass condition.

ok..ive had sk3,sidekicklx, and now i have the 08…it’s not slow it’s actually faster than the others..and the camera is actually better despite the fact it has no flash..but if ur outside the pics come out as clear as day..as far as the rumor of the sidekick touch, when it was first said..people were talkin about the “g1″ but didnt have their facts straight..but now danger and windows have partnered up and people still have hopes of a sk “touch” which is also rumored to be released sometime in 09..as well as the “g2″..so nobody truly knows but danger..even still i’ll just say keep ur eyes and ears open lol

ok so i got the sk 08, this phone was a pain in the a** to sign into cuz i picked a username and a password and for some damn reason i ended up with like 500 contacts and a bunch of txt msgs tht weren’t even mine…i found out i logged into some guys stuff all the way in oregon or somethin but im in cali…if ur gettin a sidekick choose ur username wisely cuz u mite just hack into somebody elses stuff by accident…they should have like an availability check wen u first sign in…it can really help…well,
it took about a week but i finally got tht sh** fixed hopefully…
the phone is pretty dope i can txt faster now haha and hold a bunch of music and pix i was stuck with a w490 (tht boost lookin one), and for those complaining tht it doesnt have a lot of memory well its called a memory chip go to the store and buy one 4 gb should be enough…
but yea anybody know how to put music videos on this thing?? cuz i tried doin it from my iTunes and yea it isnt workin so well…
