Yes same here, i have been wanting to jailbreak my iphone 3g 2.0.1 firmware for almost 2 weeks, but i am very worried somthing might go wrong. I just want to see some reviews from those who have jailbroken this firmware already. i just need to jailbreak it, forget about hacking it, i like at&t

I have an iphone 3g software version 2.0.1. And want to jailbreak it, I dont need to unlock it as have already activated it and am still staying with the mobile network, I just want it to use other apps etc. Will this be ok for me to do this??? Or will it cause my iphone not to work??

Hello, I did same thing to my phone and I found a solution on http://www.yeedong.com. Using their solution i downgraded to 2.0 and keep my iPhone unlocked!. Please don’t update your iphone to 2.0.1.

At the moment its impossible to unlock an iphone with 2.0.1 firmware. I,ve got the same problem when I tried to restore my jailbroken 2.0.1 iphone (from an restore and using Winpwn on a jailbroken 2.0 iphone). I stupidly asked iTunes to restore with their ipsw and not my custom.
I always get an error (9) or (6) when restoring now and what I’m calling the white screen of death while trying to restore. After restore it stays in DFU with a blank screen.
Hopefully it wont be a long wait for a new unlock. Just hope its not as long as some people that are waiting for a iPhone 3G unlock.

I am so totally confused. Can someone make this simple for me? I have an old iphone, but unfortunately it has been updated to the latest version. How can I get all of my stuff off of it, unlock it, jailbreak it and whatever else so I can sell it to pay for a new iphone?

Mobile technology changes on a daily basis, and the Apple vs. Jailbreak community is constantly seeing a back and forth that’s hard to predict.

But, I’m not sure what you are referring to with your “change your tune 5 days later” comment. The iPhone 2.0.1 OS still comes bundled with new baseband firmware that MAY kill future unlocking hopes. The most recent Pwnage Tool 2.0.2 works by replacing the new baseband with an older baseband that the DevTeam has been working to unlock.

Try putting the iPhone in DFU restore mode and restoring with an earlier firmware. You’ll need to download the iPhone v1.1.4 firmware or find the 1.1.4 firmware file on your computer (search your computer for an .ipsw file with 1.1.4 in the filename).

Connect iPhone to computer and put the iPhone into DFU restore mode by holding down the power/sleep button at the top of the iPhone while simultaneously holding down the home button. When the iPhone turns off, release the power button but keep holding down the home button.

iTunes will recognize the iPhone in restore mode. At this point, ctrl+click (or option+Click on a Mac) on the “Restore” button and find that 1.1.4 firmware file you located earlier.

I’m not sure if it will work, but it’s worth a shot.

I just made a mistake !!!

I was on the 1.1.4
I just updated the 2.0.1
So now i just can’t jailbreak my phone.
Is it possible to go back ?? ( 1.1.4 )

i did the udat to 2.0.1 but all mij jailbreak programs where reset. i restored to a backup of mij 2.0 software and i have jailbreakt it again so no worrys if you update by exedend

The new baseband is only applied to 3G phones not 2G so if you had 2.0 unlocked on 2G and upgrade it will still be unlocked. Just not jailbroken.
