7-Eleven Inc, the purveyors of US convenience stores, have seen success with their MVNO offering in the US and Canada, and have now decided to roll-out in Singapore. The offering is called “7-Eleven SpeakOut Wireless”. Given the plethora of stores in Singapore, 7-Eleven will launch in 400 stores, and will feature free night and weekend calls. The service uses the 3G network of M1 Singapore.
The 7-Connect prepaid “Free Nights and Weekends” plan will also offer rates as low as 8 cents per minutes, 5 cent local two-way text messaging, 15 cent global two-way text messaging, free caller ID, voicemail, call-waiting and conference calling, the ability to carry forward unused minutes, for $30 per month.
This is an interesting one, given that the MVNO world has been on a bit of a downer recently, with operator after operator closing down. Let’s see what happens….
