T-Mobile discontinues the Motorola Sidekick Slide

Poor Motorola (NYSE: MOT). They just can’t catch a break these days. Even with a consumer-oriented design and a new color offering that should have appealed to the hip, younger set that looks toward HipTop devices for their mobile communication needs, the Motorola-made Sidekick Slide just didn’t have the street-cred to gain any significant traction. Consider the Sidekick Slide a flop of Sidekick iD proportions.
As such, T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) has decided to pull the plug on Motorola’s HipTop offering. The Motorola Sidekick Slide will no longer be offered by T-Mobile. With the release of the Sidekick 2008, it’s understandable that T-Mobile would rather woo entry-level Sidekick users with the latest handset, rather than give serve up lesser hardware.

Online stocks of the Sidekick Slide are gone, but you might still be able to find a few units strewn across T-Mobile stores throughout the country that still haven’t managed to get rid of their Slide-inventory. If you hurry, you can probably snatch up a Sidekick Slide for a good deal (just let the dealer know that you know T-Mobile discontinued the handset) to give that Sidekick iD in your collection some much needed company.
Farewell, Sidekick Slide, we barely knew ye.

So if u still have the slide and have insurance on it, what will they do if ur phone breaks and u need to claim it on insurance?
You have to be persistent. If your phone still on warranty call t mobile but you have to be the original owner and phone had to be registered to you first. They will let you know if you are the original owner, they know. Lots of people buy these phone from someone else, I did. If you bought the phone from someone else now the warranty is void, even if the phone is not a year old and you own it now. Go to Motorola website and check the warranty. Register the phone on their website with your information. Then wait. Then call Motorola. Let tell them you spoke to t mobile and they advised you to call Motorola because your phone is out of warranty with t mobile. I’m doing this now. I sent my phone now just wait for them to either fix it or swapto upgrade with LX. I told them I don’t have to spend more more to get another phone with my insurance when I spent $200 dollars on this phone. Besides this is a manufacture malfunction is not my fault i did not damage the phone. So don’t let anyone B****SH*t you. But Be Nice, But Firm.
If you have insurance and your phone is damaged (by water, broken, crushed and is not a manufacture malfunction), it will cost $110 deductible, call your service provider T-mobile.
I have the scarlett slide. Since they are discontinuing this phone could I trade it in for a different phone??
yeah the slide was wack but the sidekick 08 has a big malfunction, i cant get any text alerts…..
i have the sidekick slide, and i have not have one problem with it. it has never deleted my contacts or shut off randomly, i am very pleased with it!! i had at least a dozen problems with my sidekick3, thats why i upgraded to the slide. usually i always end up with a shitty phone or one that breaks down, but ive had luck with this one and im glad cause i will keep it till my contract is up. and seeing as im the type of person that will buy every time a better phone comes out, that speaks volumes lol.
if i send my slide back, which sidekick will i from t-mobile since there’s no more slides?
where can i buy this phone or who is selling this?
is it still available?
I have a slide. A black one. Its awesome. The 08 is a piece of shit. Lx and wing are awesome too.
I had the original Sidekick, and never had a problem. I loved the keyboard, size, etc. I thought it was a great phone, uncomplicated and easy.
The only problem with the slide is there is no video, other than that its great..but still upgrade your phone anyway……..
