"AppStore promises to bring new features and services to the iPhone and iPhone 3G beyond the hardware’s initial intended functions"

Talk about hitting the nail on the head. Our 3G won't keep in contact with the carrier, drops calls, and burns up its battery in less than a biz day; but for a fee we can download (at EDGE speed most of the time) buggy apps that we'll use maybe for a couple minutes a day! That more than makes up for the lack of phone functionality... way to go Steveo!
