  just bought this phone…i actually like it..i love the way it looks especially the way the font looks while texting..everything is clear and large…the pictures are clearer then a lot of phones i had in the past and the internet works quicker then the kyocera…i like the extra capabilities like mp3, bluetooth, etc…but the only thing i hate is that i can no longer download FREE RINGTONES!!!!…if anyone knows a way around this so that i can set songs as ringtones for my contacts please let me know

  all you need is the memory card in the phone and you transfer ringtones to the card then once you get them there you can transfer them to your phone ringtones… it only works if you have a memory card though

  For those who want free ringtones, you can try phonezoo.com. I just got this phone for my boyfriend & I can send free ringtones that I made to him with no problem; with or without a memory card. It doesn’t have the phone model itself listed, but it’ll still work. Hope it works out for y’all.

  I tried phonezoo, its the same problem as other WAP based sites.

  Phonezoo is great, but MetroPCS blocks the download of media content over WAP.

  You can however, like the previous poster mentioned, use a memory card and a usb cable to put ringtones on the phone. You can even get the ringtones from phonezoo and then use that method to transfer.

  I have the Samsung r450 and you CAN get ringtones but first you need the micro sd card (about $18 for a 2 gig at WalMart),it goes in a slot under the battery cover. Then format the card under memory settings in the phone. Plug in the cord that came with the phone,and open ‘my computer’ and find the new letter drive and open it, it will say my images, my ringtones etc.
  You can then go to mytinyphone or wherever and save ringtones to your pc and then drag them into the ringtones folder. Mine only work in the ringtones folder for some reason it wont show in the my sounds folder. This is a very nice phone and hopefully this will help.

  maria you can leave the card in the phone and use the plug that came with it instead, it will show the same exact thing as if you plugged the micro card into the computer slot. Once its pluged in look in ‘my computer’ for the new letter drive, open it, and you should be able to see my images, my ringtones, my music, and my sounds, then you can drag or copy your pix into the my images folder.

  OS X support – Yes. I use Bluetooth to transfer my files onto the phone and card. No issues. Don’t have a data cable so I don’t know if there are any issues there..but if you have Bluetooth..why use the cable?

  Have to say though..the battery life is poor. I’m in a medium signal area (1-3 bars usually) and the phone can go from charged to 1 bar in less than 24 hours just in standby. That’s the worst performing phone/battery life I’ve ever seen. I’ve deep cycled this phone at least three times and that hasn’t helped. Bluetooth is off.

  well i just got the phone for Metro and it is amazing.
  its better than my other 2 phones that i had.
  the thing is that you have to buy the memory card separate which sucks but the phone is perfect if you love to text.

  I’ve downloaded my own custom ringtones w/o a miniSD card. I don’t know if u can xfer MP3s via Windows Media Player, but the phone cannot play WMAs. I used bluetooth to xfer files bc I am unable to find a driver for the data cable. Trouble downloading full-screen custom wallpapers and bummed by no video, but a great txting device.

  This phone is a waste of money. The sounds application make the phone black out when you try to view them if you have downloaded free ringtones. Also, the phone doesn’t even have a video camera, and if your nails are too long you cant press the top keys unlike a flip open phone(envy 2).

  Amber, I had the same problem with the silent mode the first week I got it and I called the store from where I purchased it and they told me if I remember correctly to press the # for a couple of seconds and it would go back to normal and it did.

  I’ve formatted my memory card and is still having problems retrieving music. The computer does recognize the device. the applicationin which I am using to retrieve the music is windows media player, it sychs with it and goes through the process of syching the songs to the sch-r450. I but when I detach the device (sch-r450) I can not locate what I have syched to the device…PLEASE HELP!!! I WANT 2 LOVE THIS PHONE :O)

  People on here are really complaining about issues which if they do some simple research they can figure out. If you are transferring any files from the phone to the PC you need Samsung PC Studio, installed. The battery life is probably one of the BEST features of the phone, so those who complained about that has a shit battery. The phone is great, you think the slider thing will break like right away but its very durable. I have bought a plastic rubber case from AccessoryGeeks (which has terrible customer service), so I am not really recommending them. You can get from 2 gb to 16 gbs! with those micro-SD cards. 16 GB of memory is wayyy plenty enough for this phone. Texting is great, only basic internet options, and you will not be able to download anything on MetroPCS. But you can counter this by just transfering files from your PC to the phone, which works very well, with Samsung PC Studio! This is by far the best MetroPCS phone available. If you want an Iphone don’t by a Metro.. buy a damn Iphone!

  If you want ringtones, the way I do it is, play a song over the speakers on the computer, stereo, whaever, dont get too close or it will sound distorted.. Now use the voice recorder, or the voice memo whatever the option is, save the file.. Now, open up a NEW PICTURE message, in the text.. Do NOT add a pic or it will take forever, scroll down and add the sound file for whatever song you recorded and text it to yourself, when it opens up, save the sound file thru the text option, all you have to do is go into “saved sounds” and assign it and there ya go, you got a ringtone, Ive got a bunch of em..   This phone has been the best purchase I have made in a long time. I haven’t got the mirco chip yet and I’m sure I will fall in love with this phone even more when I do get it. The only problem I had was the silent mode, it really annoyed me until I read that you can hold the # a couple seconds to enter and exit it. I now find that to be a very nice option. So no complaints with this so thus far!!

  I love this phone. I have come to terms with some of the things I want it to do and it can’t, but right now I have a dilemma.   only….connect your phone you will see a window pop up click on the icon view files.
  now! you will see the file inside your phone, images, music, ring tones etc etc…don’t touch anything in this window…keep it open.
  Now! go to start in the left of your screen, click on my music…. if you don’t see my music on that window… go to your documents you will find it there…remember what you looking for is your music or music…go into the music file… OK!!! now you have 2 windows open for better view tile the windows horizontally …
  NOTE: you can tile windows by placing mouse on toolbar on the bottom of the screen and then right click on it…
  NOTE
  this step is not necessary but it is used full…
  now!!!! that you see 2 windows open ….drag the song you want by right clicking on it and hold until place in top of the file my music on the phone window …it is simple …do the same for ringtones drag your music on the ring tone file and you are done.

  if your trying to put songs from the computer it WILL NOT work if its a wmp (window media player) has to be an mp3 file. i get all my songs from jamglue.com. and also if you want to download ringtones straight from the phone you can go to either myxer.com or funformobile.com its really very easy i love this phone. i also agree with pat if you want an iphone then go buy one. dont buy one from metro and expect it to wirk as if you went out and got it from verizon or something..

  Well after messing around with my hone for a couple hours I figured a way to get free ringtones without the memory card. First save the ringtone to your computer. Then text your email from ur phone then look at the email on your computer. Reply to it and then just set the ringtone as an attachment. then when you get the text just save it to your phone. Presto!

  To get ringtones on this phone you can send midi ringtones that you download on your computer. Send the midi file from your email to your phone number when you get the message just save the sound off it. You need to have text and pic messaging though.

  I got the same problem like when i listen to the play back on the highest volume it sounds pretty much fine. but when i actually get a txt or a call it's low. when i get a call it turns up after a few seconds but i should already be loud to begin with. and the vibration is horrible.

  How do you save pics from the metro web to your phone. There i a pic of me and my bestie that I want on my phone as a wallpaper but when I go on facebook on my phone to get it I cant figure out how to save the pic to my phone. someone please please help
