Flickup sends full-sized pics along with geo data from iPhone to Flickr

Flickup is one of those apps which you need from time to time (or constantly for avid photo takers) and just don’t understand why it takes a third-party to make it — why on Earth Flickr haven’t made an app to do this is beyond me. Since “it is what it is,” smart developers are using this to their advantage.

Anyway, with Flickup you can upload full, 2 megapixel photos to Flickr directly from your iPhone. Best of all, if you own the iPhone 3G, the application will also include the GPS data with the upload. To be fair, Flickup won’t include the data where the photo is taken — rather, it will rely on the place from where the image is uploaded. Still, if you snap a photo and upload it immediately (and why shouldn’t with an unlimited data plan), that’s about it. Apparently this is done this way due to some limitations in the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone APIs.

In addition to Flickr, Flickup can also send your photos to Twitterific, which can come in very handy for Twitter addicts…

Interested? If you’re a heavy Flickr user, you should be. The app costs 2 bucks and it’s well worth the money.

  1. if i lose connectivity and re-gain it does, it resume where it left off like ShoZu or does it send the picture from the begining again (which can lead to posting 2 photos) like AirMe?

What’s disspointing here is the fact that the iPhone’s camera doesn’t take great pictures in a lot of lighting conditions in the first place to be ‘flickr worthy’. I think I’d be interested in this app if the camera itself was upgraded in iPhone 3.0. For the meantime, I’ll be saving them to my PC.
