Apparently, Sony CEO Howard Stringer is disappointed with the performance of the Sony’s Mobile Phone JV with Ericsson. He has hinted that a re-org or break up or the JV was possible if things didn’t improve. This situation arose out of an interview with Die Welt online.
On a more positive note, Stringer talked about the company strategy to network-enable every CE (Consumer Electronics) device that is produced, with a target of 2011 to complete this. He cites standardisation as an issue to be solved, with different industries all having their own initiatives.
Crumbs, that all sounds a bit serious doesn’t it? Sony Ericsson has evolved from the embers of the singular Sony and Ericsson mobile divisons, to become a brand with a really strong identity, and some great handsets – but the financials always tell the real situation, and in this case maybe it isn’t so positive?
Ben is a 10+ year veteran of the Mobile industry – starting his career
when SMS was a still a relatively new concept for most people (!), he has
now consulted on everything from bleeding-edge Mobile content, to the
next-gen accessories you might view it on. As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas!
He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently
became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years
when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to
'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make
your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device)
isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question
of why you continue to use it...
His focus at IntoMobile is mainly on Mobile content, services, and
infrastructure, particularly as regards the UK market – and with the
occasional look at devices. Additionally, using his extensive experience
in the industry, he will provide commentary on the industry at large, with
regular (and hopefully thought-provoking) articles.

Yes I have hear rumours of this , lot of
busniess people belive this be for real.
Now when SE have start make big loses they belive
it be better for Ericsson finish with Sony .
But I never have hear so hard words from Sony CEO Howard Stringer before.
Zak
I think the reason SE isn’t performing so well is due to the fact that their phones that run on their basic java enabled OS can’t put calendar event’s on the standby screen.
Yes, I know, you can “post notes” onto the standby screen but that’s not nearly as effective. Personally, that was the only reason why I purchased a symbian device as oppose to a SE.

Same for me, calendar event’s on the standby screen is a really important feature which dismissed the SE’s to be a sensible choice.
Rob
But Sonys boss Mr Dick say yesterday they will try to
be with Ericsson .
