T-Mobile flips the 3G-switch on Philadelphia

By Will Park on Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 at 11:25 AM PST In Announcements, Services, T-Mobile

T-Mobile launches 3G in PhiladelphiaT-Mobile’s 3G network rollout seems to really be gaining steam. The latest market to get turned on to T-Mobile (NYSE: DT)’s 1700Mhz AWS 3G network is apparently Philadelphia. A Howard Forums user apparently started seeing 3G data speeds yesterday, essentially confirming that T-Mobile decided to flip the 3G-switch on Philly. The “City of Brotherly Love” has got to be loving the “800-1000kbps download and 200-300kbps upload” speeds of their newly minted T-Mobile 3G network.

Philadelphia was expected to go live with 3G “sometime in 2008,” so it’s encouraging to see T-Mobile already lighting-off their 3G towers in the area.

Welcome to the 3G-club, Philadelphia T-Mobile customers (with compatible 3G handsets in tow…)!
