SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian UIQ Sony Ericsson P1iIf you’re a fan of place-shifting streaming TV, then you’ve probably already outfitted yourself with a Slingbox and SlingPlayer Mobile to watch live TV with your mobile phone. Unless, that is, you’ve been using a UIQ-based handset.

Sling Media has been holding their Symbian UIQ-compatible SlingPlayer Mobile client over our heads for too long. Fortunately, the company that pioneered place-shifting television has released their SlingPlayer Mobile client for the UIQ platform. SlingPlayer Mobile clients for the Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) W960i, Sony Ericsson P1i, Sony ericsson P990i, and Sony Ericsson G900i are now available for download from Sling Media’s website. Grab the new UIQ clients here.

So, with SlingPlayer Mobile ready to rock on Windows Mobile, Symbian, Palm (NSDQ: PALM) OS, and UIQ, Sling Media has almost the full gamut of smartphone platforms covered. Now, we wait for Sling Media to release a SlingPlayer Mobile client for the iPhone OS and Android – hopefully a short wait.
