RIM’s first BlackBerry smartphone to sport a touchscreen display is all but official at this point. We know what it looks like, we know what it’s called, we even know the selling-points that Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is using to sell the darn thing. And, now Verizon has gone live with the BlackBerry Storm – sort of.

The BlackBerry Storm isn’t available for purchase or even pre-order, but Verizon has finally gone super-official by posting the BlackBerry Storm on their website. Verizon is taking email sign-ups from interested parties looking to be notified when the BlackBerry Storm does indeed go on sale.

Verizon’s BlackBerry Storm will feature both CDMA and GSM radios that should give it truly global reach. The BlackBerry Storm uses EVDO Rev. A on CDMA networks and will use UMTS/HSPA 3G networks when GSM is the only game in town. The 3.2 megapixel camera on the BlackBerry Storm isn’t unexpected, nor is the use of haptic vibration-feedback.

Verizon should be launching their BlackBerry Storm 9530 before the holiday shopping season kicks-off. And, by the looks of things, it’s going to arrive in the very near-term.
