Revamped BGR Radio a Huge Disappointment

The Boy Genius has launched a revamped version of their BGR Radio podcast. The first episode features Kim Kardashian, Carmelo Anthony, and Mary J. Blige. They even managed to get DJ Clue on as host and producer. That’s cool.

The celebrities came out to play in it… but that’s about all you’re going to get.

I didn’t enjoy the podcast at all. The whole show has background music, and while I know the podcast and concept is ‘BGR Radio’, I have to admit after a minute or so it got a little annoying. In between segments they insert some hip-hop tracks, which, while I enjoyed them… is just filler in my opinion. For me, podcast = content. If I wanted to listen to music I’d turn on one of my favorite internet radio stations. Perhaps that’s where BGR Radio should be found? I’m all about the content and the content in this podcast is really lacking. Give me some information I can use BGR!!!

If you want to listen to celebrities talk about what phones they like to use and why… and what parties they are going to hit up, then listen to this podcast. Call me old fashioned but when i listen to a podcast I want to get something out of it. I want to laugh, maybe learn something new, or just keep up-to-date on the news. If finding out what smartphones celebrities are using is valuable news… then subscribe to BGR Radio right now.

I’m going to give BGR a pass though, as this is their first episode. I do enjoy their blog a great deal, and would expect the podcast to get better as time goes on, but we’ll see… As far as I can tell (so far) this podcast is the ‘Entertainment Tonight’ of podcasts. If you crave celebrity smartphone talk, then go ahead and subscribe right now.
