HTC Touch 3G hits the FCC

HTC’s on its way to US smartphone market glory with its new lineup of HTC Touch handsets. From the HTC Touch Diamond to the HTC Touch HD, the Taiwanese Windows Mobile smartphone maker is preparing to blitz our Yankee market with all manner of smartphones aimed at different price-points.

The HTC Touch Viva is basically the lowest-end of the new HTC Touch lineup and carries over the original HTC Touch design aesthetic, including the recessed touchscreen. Placed slightly further up-range, the HTC Touch 3G (codename: Jade) takes the HTC Touch Viva to a slightly higher level. With a flush-mounted version of the same 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display the HTC Touch 3G adds a dual-band (900/2100Mhz) 3G (HSPA) radio to the HTC Touch Viva’s feature-set. Unfortunately, the HTC Touch 3G won’t be hitting up any 3G networks in the US - what with it lacking support for the 850Mhz band and all. But, HTC Touch fans with a hankering for a new HTC Touch handset with a flush-mounted touchscreen display and affordable price-tag could find the HTC Touch 3G an incredible value.

And, with the HTC Touch 3G garnering FCC approval, those same fans won’t have to wait too long before HTC can bring the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional-powered smartphone to the US market.
