text messaging Telecom Italias employee sent 12,000 private text messages from his work phoneI think it’s fair to say literary that everyone uses his/her work phone to chat with his family and/or friends from time to time, and honestly I don’t see anything wrong about it. Let’s face it, sometimes it’s much easier to do that from a work phone than to change phone (or maybe even SIM cards) to make a personal phone call. However, some limits should apply.

That being said, here’s a short store about Telecom Italia (NYSE: TI)’s employee who has sent 12,000 private text messages from his work phone. Before you go “OMG,” let me add that he did this in a period between the months of January and October. Still that’s a lot and I can understand the Italian operator’s intent to fire the guy.

This all happened in year 2000, though, but the bill is still there and someone has to pay it. Yeah, Telecom Italia owns a bulk of the infrastructure but they were still billed more than $2,000. And let’s face it – 12,000 text messages is way over the line, don’t you think?
